Element Materials Technology Lab Analyst (Gas Chromatography) in Scott, Louisiana

Overview

Element Scott has a current opening for a Lab Analyst (Gas Chromatography) to join our growing team in Louisiana. This person will position perform a variety of routine and non-routine testing assignments within the department assigned and insures timely and accurate test results under minimal direct supervision. The technician positions must be proficient in a number of core business skills including but not limited to compliance to established safety rules, code of conduct, and company policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Perform GC Analysis on Hydrocarbon samples and learn auxiliary testing on those samples as assigned

  • Designs, sets-up and performs a variety of test according to customer specifications and requirements

  • Requires little supervision and technical input of a Department Manager, Principal Technician, Project Coordinator or Engineer

  • Possesses the ability to mentor and train technicians who have less experience through effective communication of technical data

  • Ability to transfer technical knowledge / requirements and successfully satisfy and meet customer specifications

  • Assist teammates on other tasks as needed

Skills / Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of laboratory safety

  • Gas Chromatography experience preferred (2-3 years), Instrument maintenance skills are a plus

  • Must have earned Associate degree in related testing or science field and/or possess 3-6 years of experience in a testing related field

  • In-depth understanding of testing concepts

  • Analyzes and compiles testing data from the tests performed

  • Possess strong computer skills

  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry a plus

  • Possesses the ability to perform lower to intermediate complex testing

  • Ability to work alone the majority of the work day; only requiring assistance for clarification or confirmation of test procedures

  • Effectively manages time and practices accountability for the testing to be performed

  • Ability to take testing projects from start to finish, completing each step properly

  • Ability to hold team members and peer technicians accountable for the testing requirements

  • Advanced ability to read and understand customer specifications and perform the testing required in accordance with customer specifications

  • Ability to construct and maintain test fixtures and other laboratory equipment to ensure proper working order based on client needs

  • Ability to maintain and repair equipment

  • Ensures timely and accurate results with little supervision and technical inputPhysical Demands:

  • Frequency of required physical force: Minimum (moderate)

  • Lifting requirements: lifting <50 lbs. often and >50 lbs. on occasion

  • Ability to stand on feet for long periods of time

  • Ability to lift 50+lbs periodically
