Description of Duties:

The Virtualization Engineer supports the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) on the Integrated Research and Development for Enterprise Solutions (IRES) contract. The candidate will:

· Design, implement, troubleshoot, and sustain virtual infrastructure for the Missile Defense Space Center

· Administer Container Platforms such as OpenShift, Docker, and Podman as well as maintain Repositories/Registries

· Work closely with a team of engineers, including system administrators, network engineers, system engineers, and cybersecurity engineers, to provide high quality, innovative engineering services to the Government customer

· Work with system engineers to identify and define requirements for new systems/system modifications, developing designs, and implementing and testing solutions. Maintain associated documentation in accordance with DoD and NIST regulations

· Perform vulnerability remediation and mitigations to reduce cybersecurity risks

· Conduct daily system monitoring, system backup and restoral, and application upgrades to ensure optimal and continuous system operations

· Be responsible for ensuring system software installs, maintenance, break/fix activities, and cyber security mitigations are performed in accordance with established policies, procedures and service level agreements

· Carrying out high-level activities associated with design and system architecture

The successful candidate will:

· Be a strong innovator in process improvement and system design

· Be able to quickly learn challenging concepts, decompose difficult service problems and provide resolution

· Be able to create and follow standard processes and clearly document results

· Effectively function as self-starter and identify risks, issues, and opportunities to leadership

· Have excellent presentation, oral and written skills to facilitate effective and efficient interchanges with senior customer management and customers

· Take on additional duties that may be necessary for mission success

This position can be filled at Schriever SFB, Colorado Springs, CO.

This position is expected to pay $146,300 - $171,300 annually; depending on experience, education, and any certifications that are directly related to the position.

Here’s what you’ll need :

Basic Requirements:

Must have one of the following combinations of education and experience: HS Diploma (or GED) and 14 years of general experience; Associate’s degree and 12 years of general experience; Bachelor’s degree and 10 years of general experience; Master’s degree and 8 years of general experience

· Must have 8 years of directly related experience

· Must have 3 years of experience in management or leadership roles

· Have comprehensive knowledge of VMware environments

· Have experience resolving hardware & software conflicts, performing server maintenance and break/fix activities

· Must meet DoD 8570 certification requirements (e.g. Sec ) within 60 days of hire

· Must have an active DoD Secret Security Clearance or higher

Desired Requirements:

· Have experience administering a Red Hat Linux environment

· Have experience administering Red Hat Linux in an air gapped environment

· Have experience writing and executing Ansible playbooks

· Have experience performing root cause analysis

· Have experience with DISA tools used in scanning and remediating computer system vulnerabilities

· Have DoD networking experience with classified data networks and strong grasp of red/black concepts and IA compliance

· Have experience with Fiber Channel networks, Enterprise storage arrays and alternative virtualization platforms

· Have experience with Terraform and OpenShift platforms
