Job Title: Maintenance Technician

Pay Rate : $33-35/Hour

Location : New Elliot, IN

Shift : 1st shift

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Mechanic to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining mechanical systems and equipment, ensuring a safe and efficient work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe work environment.

  • Perform effective troubleshooting to identify malfunctions and repair as necessary.

  • Utilize system drawings and diagrams to troubleshoot mechanical systems, equipment, and components.

  • Fabricate parts and make modifications using mill surface grinder, lathe, band saw, welder, and other hand tools.

  • Perform maintenance of mechanical drives, including lubrication, aligning shafts, backlash adjustment, changing bearings, chains, and other mechanical parts.

  • Troubleshoot and test valves, cylinders, and solenoids on hydraulic and pneumatic systems.

  • Install, fabricate, and maintain plumbing systems including piping, filters, valves, and connections.

  • Prevent breakdown of mechanical systems through routine inspection and repair.

  • Provide input and generate plans for plant shutdown and startup.

  • Test and repair mechanical systems utilized by production equipment to ensure adherence to established performance levels and product quality.

  • Provide input and execute plans for the installation of new equipment and other plant upgrades.

  • Document and record modifications of new installs.

  • Identify, select, and order parts for repairs, preventative maintenance, and spare parts inventory.

  • Actively participate and support the plant Process Safety Management program.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Essential Skills

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

  • 5 Years of Maintenance Mechanic or Machinist experience preferred.

  • Ability to read and understand fabrication and assembly drawings.

  • Strong working knowledge of compressors, evaporators, condensers, and piping on HVAC systems.

  • Mechanical troubleshooting aptitude and ability.

  • Excellent communication skills and ability to perform well with a team.

  • Ability to work independently without supervision.

  • Good housekeeping and industrial safety record.

  • Dependable with an excellent attendance record.

  • Maintain adherence to all General Plant and job-specific safety rules.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Ability to work off hours and overtime as needed with short or no advance notice.

  • Ability to multi-task.

  • Capable of determining red line changes and sketching drawings from novice description and fabricating.

Work Environment

The work environment includes a chemical manufacturing facility with large blenders, mixers, totes, forklifts, and a warehouse for raw materials and finished products. The facility has strong odors and is not temperature controlled. The role involves rotating shifts with the maintenance team, including a mix of 8-hour and 12-hour shifts, on-call duties, and potential overtime. PPE such as steel toe shoes, hard hats, and eye protection are required. The dress code includes steel toe shoes, work pants, and work shirts. The maintenance team is closely knit, consisting of 4 employees including a supervisor, 2 mechanics, and 1 electrician.
