Positon Summary :

Join our dynamic Safety Acceleration Team (SAT) as a key core member, collaborating closely with Safety counterparts across multiple manufacturing sites. Together, we will proactively identify and address Safety and Engineering gaps in various critical areas, including but not limited to: 1) equipment and workplace safety by design, 2) training, 3) company policies/standards, 4) site procedures and work practices, and 5) regulatory compliance.

Your role will be instrumental in driving the swift closure of identified gaps by developing and executing effective corrective action plans in partnership with the site teams. We are committed to establishing and enhancing site engineering safety competency and capability, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, and maintaining an exceptional level of safety performance.

Please note : This position require significant travel, you can expect to travel between 80-100% of the time, covering various locations across North America for a minimum duration of 18 months. To ensure a comprehensive understanding of our operations, you will spend a minimum of 3 months at each assigned site. This rotation will provide you with valuable insights and allow you to contribute effectively to our organization. Upon completion of the rotation, you will be assigned a permanent location that aligns with your skills and preferences.

Key Responsibilities :

Identify design, standards and procedures gaps based on safety functional risk assessments, accelerate gaps closure by preparing solutions up to the execution, develop local site competences to keep solutions sustainable on a stand-alone mode afterwards.

Process Engineering / Project Management:

  • Drive equipment, process safety gap assessment for each factory in partnership with the Safety Expert of the Safety Acceleration Team and the Site

  • Autonomously develop plans (project details, timelines, resources requirements, costs and roll out) to close these gaps and execute accordingly

  • Ensure that guidelines and procedures are followed following the risk assessments performed on site, including written management approval, clear change definition

  • Update process descriptions, P&ID’s, and other documentation when needed

  • Coach and train local process and project engineers to develop local capabilities and ensure sustainable safety by design culture

  • Support the preparation of factory CAPEX submittal documents based on the gap analysis, if needed.

Cross-functional Collaboration, Training and Development:

  • Develop and/or administer safety by design training programs in collaboration with the site Functional Development, Engineering, Maintenance and Production teams.

  • Train cross-functional teams (i.e. maintenance and production employees) on documentation and equipment operation for existing and newly installed equipment.

  • Direct and advise cross functional teams (production, engineering, maintenance, etc.) on the implementation and use of the process control and data acquisition software and hardware.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Ensure thorough investigation using root cause analysis tools such as GSTD and/or DMAIC on process related issues.

  • Provide resolution of process line quality deviations through formal requests such as ODIR, process deviations, and NCR’s

  • Investigation feasibility and scope analysis to determine potential operational improvements.

Safety/Quality:

  • Ensure strict adherence of Nestle SH&E, food safety, quality principles, guidelines and procedures

  • Follow Nestle Good Manufacturing Practices, report food safety and quality issues immediately.

  • Maintain compliance with regulations and refer to Nestle Safety Guidelines and Nestle Quality Management System on all related procedures and programs.

  • Strictly apply QMS, OJT's and SOP's.

Experience & Education Requirements :

  • BS Degree in Mechanical, Electrical Engineering required

  • 2-3+ years’ experience in factory setting who has been successful in the following experiences, but not limited to: safety regulations & operations, maintenance, process engineering & projects, developing safety by design programs, problem-solving safety gaps, developing and executing corrective action plan, building competency and capability in technical safety knowledge and safety leadership behaviors

  • Experience in a food, dairy, nutraceutical etc., manufacturing plant environment

Skills:

  • Strong analytical, organizational, communication and digital literacy required.

  • Excellent interpersonal interactions and stakeholder management.

  • Ability to build teams throughout all levels and functions of the Site with respect, tact and impactful outcomes.

  • Decision-making; must be capable of making well-informed decisions in both routine and emergency situations.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills are required along with the ability able to relate with audiences that have a broad range of background and understanding.

  • Training & presentation skills.

  • Must demonstrate good insight and ability to develop mutual solutions to challenges.

  • Ability to coordinate and prioritize.

  • Ability to effectively conduct root cause analysis (GSTD-Go-See-Think-Do, 5 Why, PICNIC).

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; SAP, AutoCAD experience is preferred

  • Ability to quickly learn Site relevant federal and state OSHA requirements; principles of QMS, HACCP, and SOPs..

  • Technical writing skills (policies, procedures, reference manuals, and training materials)

  • Reading and comprehension skills/legal & regulatory interpretation.

  • Initiative to lead continuous improvement efforts.

  • Knowledgeable in the principles and application of statistics.

  • Knowledge of chemistry (especially food chemistry) and ability to relate it to current and new designs.

  • Working experience with heat transfer and fluid mechanics as it relates to process design.

  • Working knowledge of CIP, and dairy processing. Aseptic experience is a plus.

  • Ability to work flexible hours
