ABOUT THIS CAREER OPPORTUNITY
Black & McDonald is currently seeking an Apprentice Plumber to join our Construction Division in Saskatoon, SK! If you are a hands-on, customer service-oriented, and technically inclined professional searching for the opportunity to build a solid foundation for your career, this position is for you. The Apprentice Plumber position is located in Saskatoon, SK and will report directly to the Construction Supervisor.
The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate a strong work ethic, willingness to learn, a great attitude, and a genuine passion for the trade. Apprentice Plumbers are required to be skilled in all manner of pipe joining methods; comfortable with the use of common industry specific hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic tools; and adept at reading and interpreting technical literature. Day to day work may sometimes require long hours and lifting heavy loads.

Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
Under the direction of the site foreman: move/haul material, pull water lines, fire caulking, thread pipe and assist with any other tasks required.
Second year apprentices will independently: thread pipe, install laundry boxes, with supervision: begin drainage, soldering, assembling tub valves and assist with any other tasks required.
Perform other duties as required.
Participation in rotating 24/7 emergency on call supports.

Cross Connection Control Certification is considered an asset
A-Gas Certification is considered an asset
WHIMIS, SCOTT, R&R, Mobile Aerial Platform Training, Fall Protection Training, Confined Space Training is considered an asset.
WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Relevant Industry Experience (Required)
Consideration may be given to those who do not possess all the above requirements if they are able demonstrate a strong work ethic, passion for the trade, and a desire to learn.
SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Clean Class 5 SK Driver's License and abstract
Mechanical aptitude
Strength, stamina, and the use of proper lifting techniques required to handle heavy tools and parts weighing up to 25 kilograms
Ability to visualize a finished product from a document
Ability to stand for long periods of time and do some moderately heavy lifting and carrying
Ability to work in high, awkward, and noisy places
Ability to work alone or with others
The ability to contribute to a highly team-oriented environment
Strong communication skills
