Chris Craft Prototype Technician in Sarasota, Florida

Position Summary: Under the direction of a manager, effectively and efficiently installs parts into the hull. Performs other duties as directed by supervisor to include hands on build of prototype boats, and production line training.
Responsibilities:
Assembly of new products including but not limited to below waterline hardware installation, fuel systems installation, etc.
Collaborate with engineers and managers to solve problems
Basic knowledge of hand tools. Operate power tools such as screw guns, drills, caulk guns and grinders
Able to do lamination layup.
Support the development and building of necessary tools, and fixtures to support manufacturing assembly and FRP
Must have the ability to read blueprints, provide necessary redlines and insure BOM accuracy
Read and understand traveler/options
Knowledge, skills and hands-on ability in a wide variety of assembly related installations to include current and non-current product
Detailing and aesthetic maintenance of the boats.
Responsible for cleaning including but not limited to floor, wood, metal and glass, interior and facility cleaning.
Able to overlay fabrication
Apply decals and warning labels
Understands chemical components of mixing gel coat
Ability to work independently at offsite locations and solve problems that may arise
Must be committed to quality standards acceptable by Chris Craft and customer base
Willingness to assists others and have a good attitude
Supports Customer Service repairs both on site and at Dealer/ Customer locations.
Support Marketing staff with boat shows, expo events, dealer meetings, and photo shoots
Must interface well with other employees, departments throughout Chris Craft, outside vendors, dealers, and retail customers
Know and enforce company policies and procedures
Must be willing to work overtime as required to assure timely completion of critical projects
Must be willing to travel if necessary
Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Skill Requirements:
Minimum of 2 years marine hull prep experience desired
Experience with PC based software to access information and program systems
Must be able to read and write.
Ability to read and redline documentation
Good attendance required
Good time management
Detail and deadline oriented
Self-starter, high energy individual who can work effectively without supervision
Able to lift up to 25 lbs.
Education and Training:
High School Diploma or equivalent. Technical school accreditation or applicable skilled trade program preferred.
Knowledge of manufacturing methods and procedures
General knowledge of boat building, auto mechanics and/or assembly in a manufacturing environment strongly preferred.
Must have working knowledge of the use of hand and air tools such as screwdrivers, drills, mini-saws, grinders, wrenches, screwdrivers, hammers, channel locks, pliers, wrenches & sockets, nut runners/ drivers, measuring tape, wire crimpers/strippers, rubber mallets, claw hammers, utility knifes, etc.
