Amazon Employee Relations Specialist, Employee Relations in Sao Paulo, Brazil

This position requires an individual who has previous employee and labour relations experience at least for 7 (seven) years in multinational companies, subject matter knowledge, and strong communication (written/verbal) and interpersonal skills that enables the individual to work successfully on a broad spectrum of employee relations and site support issues and projects.

The position supports Brazil Operations. The central objective of Amazon.com’s employee relations team is to ensure our organization’s treatment of employees is fair, respectful, and consistent with our framework of our core business values and objectives. To support that objective, this position will focus on site support activities that improve local and network employee relations.

The individual will partner with HRBPs and legal, and develop and support leaders navigate through ER topics. Also ensuring employees and managers can easily understand and abide by company policies, practices and local country employment law.

Primary Responsabilities:

  • Collect and analyze multiple levels of Associate and manager feedback, primarily through data analysis and site visits;

  • On the ground site visits with direct interaction with the hourly population to identify risk and improve the associate experience;

  • Proactive risk mitigation by identifying site launch challenges, change in labor forms and analyze of metrics;

  • Partner and engage with site leadership and HR to identify and improve opportunities that affect the Associate experience including continuous improvement in communication vehicles and practices;

  • Analyze, diagnose, and audit people programs, policies, and practices to sustain positive employee relations;

  • Prepare assessment reports including observations and analysis for senior level leadership review;

  • Conduct and oversee employee relations and vulnerability assessment programs;

  • Design, deliver and evaluate training programs to build up employee relations capability for both operations and HR.

  • Analyze quantitative and qualitative data from multiple sources including employee feedback mechanisms to identify trends and insight that can be used to inform business decision making to ensure positive employee relations;

  • Conduct and oversee employee relations and vulnerability risk assessment to identify opportunities and vulnerabilities;

  • Partner to engage in continuous improvement of communication vehicles and practices;

  • Support and advise operations and HR partners on effective change management;

  • Balance time between projects and crisis-response is a critical component for success in the position. ER Managers also lead proactive programs that improve local and network employee relations. This will range from full project management to involvement and ownership for local implementation;

  • Investigate employees complaints cases following the appropriate system used by the Company;

  • Ensuring the appropriate application of company and policies;

  • Guidance on applying disciplinary measures based on local labor law;

  • Be hands-on worker and self-motivated, with the ability to move fast and learn quickly, comfortable in dealing with complex topics.

The individual may be required to work reactively on critical employee relations issues that are crisis-oriented and typically can only be successfully completed with limited time.

The position reports to the Brazil`s Employee Relations Manager within the Operations Human Resources group at Amazon.com.

This is a full-time position that will require significant travel to all the sites of the Company located in Brazil.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree;

  • Experience in employee relations, labor relations, or labor/employment law with an emphasis on labor and employee relations work;

  • Experience preferably in the manufacturing/supply chain area In-depth understanding of employment law and employee relations legislation leading with hourly and monthly employee populations;

  • Ability to manage multi-site complexity, prioritizing competing priorities;

  • Ability to influence and partner with different levels of the organization to achieve results;

  • Experience working in Relations and developing direct local negotiations when required;

  • Have some years of relevant HR/ER experience with HR/Legal background, ideally within a high volume, fast paced and customer focused environment Will be involved in designing disruptive labor models;

  • Experience on identifying and mitigating labor risks.

  • Fluency in English;

  • Understanding of Brazil’s Labor Law;

  • Technically proficient in MS Word, Excel, Access, & PowerPoint, with ability to become proficient with HTML a plus;

  • Able to pass a comprehensive background and reference check.

  • Strong interpersonal and persuasion skills, enabling individual to establish partnerships working with senior leaders and across organizational lines;

  • Strong project and time management skills with ability to multi-task and manage multiple projects to closure;
