Position Overview:

The Telemetry Technician Support Associate (TT/CSA) is trained in EKG interpretation and is responsible for continuous monitoring of all telemetry rhythms, mounting and interpreting rhythm strips, and interacting with nursing staff and physicians in rhythm identification and notification of deviations from baseline, initiating baseline data collection each event.

The TT/CSA enters and monitors telemetry specific orders with complete accuracy within the telemetry system in a timely manner. Prioritizes work duties based upon own judgment and direction of the RN. Practices discretion in maintaining patient confidentiality in both written and verbal form. Acts as a resource person. Telemetry Technician anticipates staff and patient needs and facilities communications to obtain needed supplies and/or support. The Telemetry Technician represents the patient care team and department to the public and other hospital staff. Demonstrates an understanding of and applies process principles in problem solving and promoting excellence.

The TT/CSAalso performs clerical, electronic healthcare auditing and data retrieval, receptionist duties, managing multiple simultaneous requests from physicians, hospital personnel, nursing staff, patients, and patients' families. Assists in the coordination and prioritizing of department activities, in conjunction with nursing staff to assure smooth and efficient operation.

Under general direction performs clerical and basic patient support services and related work in a patient care of ancillary department for a variety of age specific groups. The incumbent has access to Protected Health Information as needed to accomplish the accountabilities as outlined in this job description. This includes ccess to the patient's medical record.

Has demonstrated competency in rhythm interpretation, use of monitoring system and ability to accurately monitor up to 50 patients at one time.

Job Description :

EDUCATION

  • Equivalent experience will be accepted in lieu of the required degree or diploma.

  • HS Diploma

  • Successful completion of EKG Course/testing within 3 months is required.

  • Successful completion of course in cardiac monitoring and demonstrated competency is required.

  • Course work in medical terminology strongly desired.

CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE

  • BLS-Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider within 60 Days of hire

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE AS TYPICALLY ACQUIRED IN:

  • Demonstrated experience in patient care services area

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

  • Ability to clearly speak and write English and make basic arithmetic calculations at a level for successful job performance are required.

  • Ability to speak and write Spanish fluently may be required.

  • Must have valid CPR certification, completion of Telemetry class and demonstrated competency by passing EKG rhythm exam

  • Knowledge of medical terminology required

  • Demonstrated understanding of the heart’s electrical system and ability to differentiate EKG rhythms accurately

  • Working knowledge of medical terminology, Performance Improvement, Customer Service, Medi-Cal, Medicare, and private pay insurance is required.

  • Knowledge of basic patient care and interviewing techniques required

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written required. Precise attention to detail and ability to perform well in a highly active environment

  • Ability to type and basic computer skills are required. Will complete training in E.H.R. for required job functions.

  • Completion of orientation requires that the TT must be able to:

  • Demonstrate proficiency in computer entry

  • Demonstrate customer focused phone skills and other communication skills

  • Demonstrate accurate filing skills

  • Successful completion of the EKG interpretation course and/or testing and competency

  • Ability to pay close attention to detail, organize tasks by priority, provide superior customer service and maintain effective working relationships with others.

  • Ability to communicate clearly using verbal and/or written skills

  • Requires skill in cardiac monitoring and arrhythmia recognition

  • Must have excellent computer skills

Pay Range is $29.98 to $37.29 / hour

The salary range for this role may vary above or below the posted range as determined by location. This range has not been adjusted for any specific geographic differential applicable by area where the position may be filled. Compensation takes into account several factors including but not limited to a candidate’s experience, education, skills, licensure and certifications, department equity, training and organizational needs.
