Our medical practice in Santa Monica, CA, is seeking an experienced Surgery Scheduler with a background in Obstetrics and Gynecology (OBGYN) to join our busy team. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating and scheduling surgeries, consultations, tests, and procedures between surgeons, patients, and healthcare facilities.

Responsibilities:

• Schedule surgeries, follow-ups, and post-operative appointments in coordination with doctors, patients, and surgical facilities.

• Manage surgeon’s surgical and procedural calendar.

• Provide patients with all the necessary information related to their surgery, including pre and post-operative instructions.

• Liaise with insurance companies to verify patients' insurance coverage and obtain necessary authorizations and referrals for procedures.

• Ensure all required surgical and office equipment and supplies are available for surgical procedures.

• Confirm procedure timing and logistics with patients and surgical facilities, managing any booking changes or cancellations as necessary.

• Maintain accurate and confidential patient records in accordance with HIPAA guidelines.

• Work closely with other team members to provide excellent patient service, demonstrating professionalism and empathy at all times.

Qualifications:

• Previous experience in scheduling surgeries within the medical field, specifically within an OBGYN setting, is required.

• Knowledge of medical terminology, particularly in obstetrics and gynecology.

• Familiarity with medical software and Microsoft Office Suite.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to deal effectively with patients, their families, and medical staff.

• Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA standards.

• Exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced medical office environment.

• Knowledge of insurance verification and authorization procedures.
