Robert Half is in search of an Accounting Manager for our non-profit client located in Santa Monica, California. This role is crucial to operations, overseeing accounting functions, payroll, and financial reporting for the US market. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work in a dynamic environment, and will be instrumental in managing and improving accounting processes. This is a hybrid role 2 days in-office and 3 days WFH.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee and manage all general ledger activity

• Ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes

• Supervise, direct, and review the work of the accounting staff (including, but not limited to, cash reconciliations, check runs, accounts receivable transactions, fixed asset activity, payroll, accounts payable transactions, debt activity, recording of revenue and expenses, etc.)

• Manage the payroll system and payroll-related transactions

• Develop and maintain financial accounting systems for cash management, accounts payable, accounts receivable, credit control, and petty cash

• Coordinate the preparation of financial statements, financial reports, special analyses, and information reports

• Develop and implement policies and procedures with emphasis on internal controls

• Ensure records systems are maintained in accordance with generally accepted auditing standards

• Coordinate work relating to both internal and external audits in the periodic review of the company financial records.

Requirements

• Must have a bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field

• Proven experience as an Accounting Manager or similar role

• Strong understanding of Accounting Functions, Financial Reporting, and Payroll

• Proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel, and knowledge of accounting software

• Excellent analytical skills with an attention to detail

• Strong communication and leadership skills

• Ability to manage time and prioritize tasks efficiently

• Adherence to professional ethics and confidentiality of financial data

• Capacity to stay updated with current financial rules and regulations.
