Under the guidance of Mondelēz International’s legal leader or counsel, you deliver on our legal strategy, activities, and service delivery model in a legal specialist and generalist area of focus. You use your ability to work independently, your in-depth knowledge, and significant experience in a specialty area to apply legal knowledge in the practice area and propose legal solutions and alternatives to in-house counsel.
How you will contribute
Under the guidance of Mondelēz International’s legal leader or counsel, you will deliver on our legal strategy, activities, and service delivery model in a legal specialist and generalist area of focus. In this role, you provide strategic legal support to the legal business unit, region and global stakeholders and work closely with them to ensure legal concepts and implications are understood and related legal and operational risks are assessed. You will operate systems and technologies relevant to the area of support, prepare documents, gather information, and interact with business partners to deliver objectives and provide expertise and experience in a legal specialty area to identify and advise on laws and regulatory changes for a given country and/or across multiple countries.

Responsibilities:
Work with Senior Director and Chief Counsel MX BU in the following priorities, ensuring clear communication and teamwork:
•Decisive, creative and pragmatic business leader; strategic advisor with strong ability to use own initiatives and help the business achieve or exceed their objectives, with a solid track record working on matters pertaining to:
•Operations: provide legal service to the operations group in matters such as environmental, energy, EHS, etc., pertaining to the MX BU manufacturing facilities, distribution centers, and CEVES located in Mexico.
•Supply chain and Procurement: Provide transactions-related legal services, including review, advice, structuring, negotiation, drafting, and tracking of contracts for sale and acquisition of goods and services for the MX BU, will provide training and day-to-day problem-solving. The position will interact with Global and LA Procurement.
•CGA: support the CGA to distill complex laws and regulations into MX BU useful, understandable principles and concise, easy-to-read and understand explanations.
•Regulatory: Identify and interpret applicable laws and regulations; provide timely, clear, and thoughtful legal advice and solutions pertaining to the laws, regulations, regulatory changes and policy changes, etc., that may have an impact on the business, manufacturing process, and our products specifically those related regulatory framework for food/consumer goods products in Mexico, providing accurate and timely information to the Chief Counsel and the business in relation to relevant legal development.
•Identify and interpret applicable laws and regulations; monitor, anticipate and analyze relevant law and policy changes to address and implement them in most advantageous way to MDLZ consistently, using best practices, e.g. consumer goods, food law and regulatory changes, etc. Develop and give relevant and meaningful training on laws and legal developments and provide training on those laws/regulations that can affect the business.
•Claims: manage claims pertaining to regulatory matters, conduct thorough factual and legal investigation, and develop claims resolution strategy accordingly. Work with Senior Director and Chief Counsel and outside counsel in preparing a response to the claim.
•Use outside counsel efficiently and as necessary. To provide feedback to the Senior Director and Chief Counsel on the level of services of outside counsel and look for opportunities to improve the services.
Job Requisitions:
Bringing successful experience in a multinational consumer goods company or law firm that has worked in a complex commercial setting, the ideal candidate should possess at least 15 years of business experience, with a successful track-record operating as an advisor/counsel in fast moving, consumer-centric and dynamic environments.
•Law degree;
•Master’s degree is a Plus;
•Admitted to practice law in Mexico;
•Impeccable professional and personal integrity background;
•Seasoned in-house lawyer or law firm advisor/counsel with at least 15 years’ experience at prestigious law firms and/or international companies;
•Generalist background with broad exposure to multiple legal disciplines core area being every aspect of commercial law;
•Experience in Marketing, Manufacturing and/or Sales law or Consumer Packaged Goods industry experience preferred but not mandatory;
•Great interpersonal skills, teamwork, approachable and team builder; breakthrough thinker;
•Ability to work under pressure with a sense of diplomacy;
•Strong strategic leadership orientation combined with a strong analytical & conceptual thinking
•Fluent in English and Spanish.
