GovCIO Database Administrator 3 in Santa Fe, New Mexico

Overview

GovCIO is currently hiring for an experienced Database Administrator for Oracle and MSSQL systems running on Windows and Linux platforms, supporting multiple development, test and production database environments. This position provides database administration support for existing production database environments and supports the following related tasks: software installation, patch installation, upgrades, SQL/PLSQL and SSIS development, configuration, database creation, security, system monitoring and tuning, disaster recovery support, implementation of backup and recovery.. This position will be located inthe Washington, DC metropolitan area and will be fully remote within the United States.

Responsibilities

Implements and maintains smooth operation and physical design of databases. Conducts performance tuning of indexes and databases in general. Reviews database design and integration of systems, provides backup recovery and makes recommendations regarding enhancements and/or improvements. Maintains security and integrity controls. Formulates policies, procedures, and standards relating to database management, and monitors transaction activity and utilization. May develop stored procedures and/or triggers.

  • Administer Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle database systems.

  • Develop and enforce database administration and user standards and procedures; audits, modifies, and amends data in systems using SQL commands.

  • Assists database developers in developing, troubleshooting, and optimizing database SQL, code, and structures.

  • Provide DBA support such as incident response, proactive performance tuning and monitoring, troubleshooting, patching, back-up and recovery, auditing, partitioning, disaster recovery, installation and configuration

  • Perform Windows/Linux administration required to support database systems (setup system parameters, system performance monitoring)

  • Establish and implement best practices for database configuration

  • Comply with recommended database security standards

  • Develop, review, modify and execute database SQL and PL/SQL scripts

  • Develop, troubleshoot and execute SQL Server SSIS packages

  • Plan and perform data migrations and upgrades

  • Perform database and schema exports, imports and data refreshes using Data Pump and Import/Export utility

  • Prepare documentation for database changes and present changes to a Change Advisory Board

  • Support database administrators for other data centers

  • Participate in after-hours on-call support rotation for Production systems

Qualifications

Bachelor's with 5 - 8 years (or commensurate experience).

Required Skills and Experience

  • 5+ years of Oracle DBA experience with at least 3 years of experience with Oracle 19c database administration, including Oracle RAC, in Windows and Linux environments.

  • 3+ years of experience administering MS SQL Server, 1+ years with version 2019 including mirroring and SSIS package development.

  • Must possess very strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Must be organized and a good team player

  • Must be able to effectively collaboration with development teams to resolve database issues

  • Must be flexible, adaptable to change, and able to multitask in a fast-paced diverse environment

  • Must be available to periodically provide after-hours and weekend support for Production maintenance activities, patching, and code deployments

Clearance Required:

  • Must be able to attain a Position of Public Trust level 5C.

  • Preferred candidates will have attained a Position of Trust 5C from a federal agency in the recent past.

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Preferred majors and minors include Computer Science, Computer Engineering, and Information Management & Technology

  • Oracle OCP in 19c Database Administration or higher

  • Experience supporting teams implementing Agile and Scrum

  • Experience with using Jira to receive and track tickets

Posted Pay Range

The posted pay range, if referenced, reflects the range expected for this position at the commencement of employment, however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, education, experience, and internal equity. The total compensation package for this position may also include other compensation elements, to be discussed during the hiring process. If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the GovCIO reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, GovCIO or individual department/team performance, and market factors.

Posted Salary Range

USD $82,000.00 - USD $115,000.00 /Yr.
