Amazon Web Services (AWS) Specialist Solutions Architects (SSAs) are technologists who address advanced concepts and feature designs. The Worldwide Specialist Organization (WWSO) is responsible for driving revenue, adoption, and growth from the largest and fastest growing small- and mid-market accounts to enterprise-level customers including public sector. We work backwards from our customer’s most complex and business critical problems to build and execute go-to-market plans that turn AWS ideas into multi-billion-dollar businesses. WWSO teams include business development, specialist and technical solutions architecture. As part of WWSO, you'll provide expertise across the entire life cycle of an AWS customer initiative, from developing ideas for new services to accelerating the adoption of established businesses. Role includes up to 30% travel.

Key job responsibilities

The team is looking for an experienced Solutions Architect who will be the Subject Matter Expert (SME) responsible for our supporting customers across the wide range of EC2 instances. As an EC2 Performance Solution Architect (SA), you will work with customers globally, partner closely with the engineering, business development, and technical field teams to drive the adoption of Amazon EC2 Compute resources. The EC2 Performance SA will develop white papers, blogs, reference architectures, and presentations to enable customers and partners to understand and leverage the value of EC2. The EC2 Performance SA will also help drive enablement initiatives to continually develop the best technical field teams in the industry.

Basic Qualifications

• 7+ years design/implementation/consulting experience of distributed applications

• 5+ years design/implementation/consulting experience of distributed applications.

• Experience deploying and running containers at scale including orchestration technologies like EKS and ECS

Preferred Qualifications

• History of successful technical consulting and/or architecture engagements with large-scale customers or enterprises

• Experience migrating or transforming legacy customer solutions to the cloud

• Familiarity with common enterprise services and working knowledge of software development tools and methodologies

• Strong written and verbal communication skills with a high degree of comfort speaking with executives, IT Management, and developers.

• Experience working within software development or Internet-related industries

• AWS Solution Architecture certification or relevant cloud expertise

• Computer Science /relevant degree and/or experience highly desired

• Proficiency with debugging and troubleshooting application's developed in Java, Ruby, Python, C/C++, Go, or Rust language(s) and frameworks.

• Breadth of expertise deploying multi-az and multi-region applications on a public cloud provider.

• Ability to understand the impact of cross-az/cross-region on network communication latency and application performance

• Ability to analyze and interpret performance metrics and logs

• Ability to interact with senior leadership within a customer or partner organization.

• Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse set of customers or partners, across multiple disciplines.

• Presentation and written communication skills.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $138,200/year in our lowest geographic market up to $239,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
