KEY ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

We are seeking an experienced technology and engineering leader to establish, grow and lead a multidisciplinary engineering team at our Monterrey Technology Hub (MTH). The hub team will design, develop, and sustain components and products as part of our global systems engineering and Carrier Centers of Excellence (CoE) teams. Together the hub team will work with others across the globe to enable cost-efficient and successful outcomes for the Carrier businesses. As the leader you will be responsible for creation and delivery of the hub vision, strategy, and enabling sustainable talent growth aligned with business and functional priorities, by partnering across functions, businesses, and teams.

  1. Technology Leadership : You will provide technical leadership, mentoring, and coaching to other leaders and team members. Using your understanding of various functional and business strategies you’ll align the hub strategy and growth accordingly. You will apply your knowledge of the technology development lifecycle from new product development, ETO (Engineered to Order) to aftermarket, sustaining and factory support across various HVAC and Refrigeration product lines. This includes working with global systems engineering teams along with technology disciplines like Electronics, Controls, Software, Mechanical and Electrical sub-systems, and modules. As Hub Leader, you’ll provide technology guidance to establish validation processes and ensure the required labs to support business outcomes.

  2. Strategy: Working with business and functional leaders you will create strategy. You will also own development, implementation, and execution of short and long-term strategy, creating roadmaps aligned with business needs. You will ensure the hub technology roadmap which will allow delivery of desired outcomes for various technology teams and businesses. Further, as the leader you’ll leverage financial and business acumen as MTH growth roadmaps are created, maintained, and updated.

  3. Execution : Utilizing your knowledge of systems leadership, program management, and the ability to take requirements from concept to product solution delivery on-time, within budgets, meeting KPIs, you will guide direct and indirect leadership. Desired outcomes will occur by working cross-functionally to ensure the team delivers projects and programs across the portfolio supporting various CoEs and teams.

  4. Leadership, Presentation & Communication Skills: You will use your ability to influence at various levels in the organization, including senior executive leadership and communicate effectively with clarity complex issues to leadership, technical and non-technical audiences, shaping and guiding discussions to drive focus and execution clarity. Your ability to implement effective organization structures, operating cadence, performance measurements and report periodically will create a high performing and engaged team. Your strong presentation skills, globally inclusive approach with the ability to work across geographies and cultures, will shape and deliver outcomes.

5 . People Leadership: Your ability to motivate and work across various diverse global cultures, drive decisions, demonstrating edge to make decisions will create an environment where others want to follow.

You will motivate and energize cross functional teams to work together, sharing technology to deliver accelerated solutions that result in regular wins for the team. Leading direct and indirect teams effectively will ensure the team can deliver new product solutions and development programs.

  1. Talent Management : As a people leader with passion for talent, you will coach and build talent, create succession plans, ensure performance management and differentiation of rewards aligned with employee contributions. You will partner with HR and your leadership team to create resource plans, prioritization, and effective resource utilization.

  2. Financial Ownership : With ownership for budgets, project and program level estimation and financial ownership you will ensure delivery to commitments against plan. You will champion the creation of long-range plans (LRP) and AOP plans for MTH including capital and operational expenses, while ensuring cost-effectiveness and driving consistent year over year productivity and performance.

  3. Execution Excellence : You will lead by example, maintaining a strong say-do ratio, with bias towards exceeding expectations while delivering on commitments short and long term. Serve as a champion for learning and applying the Carrier Excellence tools across the MTH.

  4. External Presence/Connections : As the hub header you will have a strong external presence, including relationships with university leaders and others in the local technology/science ecosystem. You will promote MTH as a vibrant technology hub in the region, enabling attraction of top talent and partnerships.

QUALIFICATIONS

The ideal candidate will have:

· A bachelor’s degree in engineering, or a relevant field (advanced degree/MBA preferred), with 12+ years’ experience in developing and leading technology development and field deployment

· 12+ years’ experience leading systems engineering, new product development, sustaining engineering and program execution, with effective communication, presentation, and influencing skills

· Knowledge of HVAC Systems, controls, mechanical, electrical disciplines, along with experience supporting high volume and diverse manufacturing and operations teams locally

· Minimum 5+ years’ experience working in a global design center with an understanding of engineering operations and running global cost center/design center structure

· Minimum 10 years’ experience in leading teams, working cross-functionally in a global environment, with effective communication skills in global environment

· Strong English communication skills required

· Financial understanding of planning and executing to budgets to run a global design center

· Demonstrated ability to explain complex technical issues to both technical and non-technical audiences

· Presentation skills with a high degree of comfort with both large and small audiences (Senior Executives, Digital management, Functional leaders, Field service)

· Proven record of building trusting relationships cross-functionally, and with business management across product lines, experience managing various stakeholder relationships to work toward consensus on solutions/initiatives and ability to make decisions with conviction

· Ability to demonstrate Carrier Values and behaviors to achieve business objectives and goals

Preferred Experience:

· Experience with Carrier HVAC equipment, a strong plus

· Experience building global design centers that support various teams and businesses
