About the Role
AWS Solutions Architects are trusted advisors to our customers, helping them solve some of their largest business challenges by designing and advising on some of the most scalable, flexible and resilient solutions in the world. Being a thought leader who creates and presents content you will test traditional thinking by pushing the boundaries for your customers to dream and deliver beyond what they think is possible. You will have the opportunity to partner with customers early in their cloud journey and help them scale further bringing visible and measurable impact in their growth ambitions in non-linear ways, using AWS as building blocks.
Key job responsibilities
Customers are looking for strategic partners to help them thrive in rapidly changing business context. As a solutions architect, you will have opportunities to influence customers' cloud journey right from the start. You will have a chance to influence architectural decisions to help customers adopt AWS cloud in a more reliable and secure way while at the same time helping the customers realize tangible business value from cloud adoption. Most importantly, as a Trusted Advisor, you will provide customers with technical insight, technology roadmap, and right technical choices to transform IT in rapidly changing environment.
• Work directly with customers to accelerate their business outcomes and recommend best-practice cloud architectures in line with their long-term business needs.
• Drive technical solutions discussions with your customers, diving deep into the details to solve complex technical problems and use your knowledge to craft scalable, flexible, and resilient cloud architectures.
• Scope and own customer engagements, with attention towards clear and well-defined objectives and success criteria.
• Act as a thought leader in the wider community, playing a key role in educating, sharing best practices, presenting at events, writing white papers, blogs, and running workshops.
• Share the voice of the customer to influence the roadmap of new features and services for the AWS platform. Proactively work within the organization to influence the evolution of the platform.
• Serve as a key technical member of the Solutions Architecture team through influencing decision makers across multiple domains to ensure customer success in building applications and services on the AWS platform which align to long-term business goals.

Our solutions architects are experienced technologists with technical breadth and depth coupled with strong interpersonal skills. The variety of customers is huge as we work across all industries within our Enterprise segment, like financial, retail, telecommunications, manufacturing, hi-tech, media and entertainment to name a few. On a daily basis you will work alongside people who are leading the way in designing cloud bases architecture. We are the trusted advisor to our customers, so challenge our customers to think differently, learn more build elegant, transformative solutions!
As a Principal Solutions Architects work on the most complex customer challenges and opportunities. They have a leading role in developing both the strategy and the team itself. They combine an informed view of the market with their understanding of emerging technology trends to speed-up innovation across their customer segment. Externally, they are recognized thought leaders and influence the strategy of our customers. Internally, they earn a reputation of role models and deliver bar-raising guidance to the broader Solutions Architecture team.

Basic Qualifications
12+ years or more experience in building/ designing user-facing software products and services
12+ years in a technical senior management role, developing and nurturing teams of motivated technologists
Listen to our customers (tech and non-tech) and based on one’s understanding, propose a workable solution and one more by thinking from multiple directions.
Experience in developing technology solutions and evangelizing end-to-end technology roadmaps that guide IT transformation toward cloud computing
Prior experience in communicating across technical and non-technical audiences, conflict resolution including executive level stakeholders, customers and internal facing teams.
Passion and experience for evangelizing and presenting technical concepts across technical and non-technical audiences and at C-level, including training, workshops, publications
Preferred Qualifications
Experience managing multi-people, large scale, or open source projects
Knowledge of distributed systems design and implementation, large scale automation and workflow management, database design and implementation
One or more valid AWS Certifications, such as, AWS Solutions Architect or similar
Presentation and whiteboarding skills with a high degree of comfort speaking with internal and external executives, IT management, and developers.
Ability to absorb new technology and baseline it to improve one’s existing understanding

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $164,500/year in our lowest geographic market up to $284,300/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
