Caterpillar is seeking a 2nd shift Fabrications Production Manager in Sanford, NC. In this role, you will oversee and coordinate the activities of a more complex production line, prepares schedules, resolves issues, and ensures adherence to safety and quality standards.

What you can look forward to in this role:

  • Monitoring and improving shop floor safety,

  • Assuring fixtures, tooling and processes are followed to meet production scheduling.

  • Determining priorities and sequencing jobs,

  • Scheduling and prioritizing constrained resources and adjusting staffing to meet flow and customer requirements.

  • Determining and executing disciplinary action when appropriate.

  • Procuring and distributing production material to meet schedules.

  • Ensuring preventive maintenance is performed according to schedule.

  • Implementing Lean Manufacturing, 6 Sigma, Internal Certifications.

  • Evaluating, assessing, identifying, and leading the deployment of workforce training.

The successful candidate in this role will showcase their skills in:

Talent Management: Knowledge of human resources and talent management processes; ability to lead, motivate, evaluate, and reward employees at the workplace.

Manufacturing Operations: Knowledge of manufacturing operations; ability to perform day-to-day operations of a manufacturing plant or facility for products.

Manufacturing Safety: Knowledge of manufacturing safety; ability to identify work-related hazards and perform necessary activities to meet regulatory requirements for the safety and protection of workers, environment, and site.

Production Training: Knowledge of approaches, tools, and techniques for delivering formal and informal training on the safe and efficient operation of production machinery; ability to conduct effective formal and situation-specific training.

Top Candidates for this position may also have:

  • One or more year of manufacturing engineering experience including in the areas of fabrications, logistics, assembly, or engineering.

  • Strong demonstrated supervisory leadership within manufacturing environment.

  • A two-year degree in a manufacturing or business discipline

  • Good communication, interpersonal and teamwork skills.

  • Ability to work with a diverse group of employees and customers.
