BD (Becton, Dickinson and Company) Operations Facilities Maintenance Technician (Nights) in Sandy, Utah

Job Description Summary

The Maintenance Technician will support, install, repair, and troubleshoot, Sterilization building's HVAC, electrical, plumbing, sterilization equipment, and process equipment/utilities to sterilization equipment.

Maintain, install, repair, start-up, and operate critical utilities and systems related to

sterilization equipment and support systems including steam boilers, hot water, chilled

water, vacuum, and nitrogen system.

Oversee the routine Prevent Maintenance on sterilization equipment, and facilities HVAC,

electrical, and plumbing systems.

Troubleshoot critical utilities and systems related to sterilization equipment and support

systems including steam boilers, hot water, chilled water, vacuum, and nitrogen system.

Manage the maintenance and repair of the Sterilization building HVAC, electrical, lighting,

and plumbing systems.

Troubleshoot Sterilization building HVAC, electrical, lighting, and plumbing systems.

Works with outside contractors during specialized projects and during routine services

regarding sterilization equipment and support systems.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for maintaining all facility equipment in good operating condition.

  • This includes performing preventive maintenance tasks such as changing oil on conveyors, checking bearings, adjusting tension on belts, cleaning air intakes, etc., as well as responding to production equipment breakdowns by troubleshooting, repairing, replacing parts, or calling outside vendors.

  • Maintains a safe work environment by aligning with safety procedures, rules, and regulations.

  • Aligns with policies, standards, and practices by examining building facilities, equipment, and supplies; reporting unsatisfactory conditions.

  • Perform general maintenance duties such as painting, carpentry, plumbing, electrical, minor roof repairs, and other general maintenance tasks as needed.

  • Performs housekeeping functions as necessary (i.e. sweeping floors, shoveling snow, picking up trash). Support the production area by keeping areas clean during production runs.

  • Must be able to operate within strict FDA cGMP guidelines.

  • Perform any other related duties as assigned.

Education:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required

Experience:

  • Previous experience in manufacturing/maintenance preferred

  • Knowledge of electricity, power transmissions, plumbing, hydraulics, pneumatics, welding, cutting, and the use of shop tools.

  • Knowledge of factory layout and location of main utility services and controls.

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

  • Good interpersonal skills are required to communicate effectively verbally and written.

  • Must have basic computer skills.

  • Ability to move materials, tools, equipment, and other items from one location to another.

  • Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, and other equipment required to complete job tasks.

  • Must be willing to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.

  • Specific vision requirements include close vision for examining circuit boards, visual inspection of parts, reading of gauges, operation of machines, etc.

  • Must wear appropriate PPE ear protection (plugs or muffs), hair bonnet, beard cover, and bump cap.

Work Environment:

  • The associate is required to stand and walk for the majority of the working day.

  • The physical demands of the job range from medium to heavy.
