SANDY CITY Assistant City Engineer in SANDY, Utah

The City of Sandy,UT is looking to hire a regular (benefitted) Assistant City Engineer.

STARTING SALARY: $94,314.96 - $129,690.90

CLOSING DATE: Open until filled. The City may begin reviewing applications on December 18, 2024. Position may close at any time after this date. However, applications will continue to be accepted until position is filled.

SUMMARY:

Under the general supervision of the Assistant Public Works Director/City Engineer, manages capital improvement projects and engineering development review.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Requires a bachelor's degree in civil engineering or related field. Related graduate degree preferred. Requires five years engineering experience, two of which must include supervisory responsibilities. May substitute up to two years additional education for two years of non-supervisory required experience. Valid Utah Driver's License required; current P.E. License in the state of Utah required. A one year probationary period is a prerequisite to this position. Knowledge of civil engineering design and construction methods; principles of management and budgeting; Software platforms for management, design, and digital review. Understanding of research and analysis methods, personnel policies and procedures, project management, and budgeting. Great care and professional judgment required to avoid faulty design and decisions that could lead to property damage and personal injury. This could bring injury or death to citizens and legal action against the City. Moderate responsibility for the care, condition, and use of materials, equipment, money, and tools. Great responsibility for making decisions which affect the activities of other individuals - what they should do, how to do it and when. Ability to professionally furnish and obtain information from other departments; contact with other departments requiring tact and judgment to avoid friction; constant contact with the public presenting data that may influence important decisions; requires a well-developed sense of strategy and timing; ability to deal well with developers; frequent attendance at public meetings or group meetings required.
