What You Will Do:

  • Able to utilize the hospital computer systems (HIS/RIS/PACS) to retrieve information, export images, review images, verify data, perform order entry to produce a requisition, and complete exam record in RIS following completion of exam.

  • Receives order request checking for special instructions, consults with Radiologists as needed.

  • Prepares room, equipment, and imaging materials as needed for patients.

  • Explains procedures to the patient.

  • Transfers patient to the imaging table if required.

  • Positions patient for all needed views. Ability to adapt positioning and views per patient encounter when patient is unable to cooperate or comply with routine positions.

  • Prepares various contrast mediums for x-rays.

  • Selects and operates equipment as directed. Follows prescribed techniques in administering x-rays. Adjusts equipment settings; determines proper exposure parameters, selecting proper technical factors on an individual patient basis.

  • Observes patient and machine during procedure and reports unusual occurrences.

  • Performs a patient assessment, as appropriate for the imaging procedure to assist Radiologist during interpretation.

  • Performs imaging in the main department, off-site locations, surgery and portable work as assigned. Able to work in each environment appropriately as needed.

  • Knowledge of the needs of patients according to their age group and the ability to modify care according to patient’s age. Technologist will most frequently care for adults and geriatric patients; and, on occasion, adolescents, children, infants, and neonates.

  • Lifts, moves, and transports patients via wheelchair or cart. Transports patient from patient room, Surgery Center, ESD, and other patient care areas. Returns patient to room or other patient care area.

  • Available for emergency cases on a rotational basis. Teaches clinical affiliate students.

  • Assists with clerical and front office duties and responsibilities as needed. Clerical functions may include answering and routing phone calls, release of information, burning CD’s, and other related tasks.

  • Staff assigned to specific locations may be required to perform short registrations and activate patient accounts. Additionally, staff may be required to assist with patient vitals to include blood pressure, height, weight, and temperature.

  • Identifies problems and communicates appropriately to immediate supervisor, offers solutions as appropriate.

    What You Will Need:

  • Graduate of formal radiologic technology training program in an approved school.

  • Must be American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) registered and licensed by the State of Ohio (ODH) as Radiographer.

  • Both ARRT registry and ODH license required to be kept active.

  • A new graduate of an approved radiologic technology training program and registry eligible may be hired. ARRT and ODH license required within 60 days of hire. Cannot work independently prior to ARRT and ODH requirements.

  • Must be currently certified in CPR, and be recertified bi-annually.

  • Ability to work in an environment that is fast-paced and requires multi-tasking.

  • Uses proper body mechanics. Ability to push, pull and/or lift patient from carts, wheelchairs, or other transport devices onto imaging table/couch.
