What You Will Do:
Under the general direction of the Manager of Coding, the Coding & Reimbursement Specialist-Level 1 codes outpatient encounters for billing purposes and data retrieval using ICD-10-CM, billing edits and CPT/HCPCS, and validates for medical necessity and contact providers for additional information.

Utilizes software to identify and correct potential problems on bills prior to billing, ensuring accurate claim submission.
Follows up on deficient/delinquent accounts for prompt release of claims to billing.
Retrieves, searches data base for patient clinical information for patient accounts, physicians, etc.
What You Will Need:
Two year Associate Degree preferred. RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CCA, CCP or eligible certification required. Credentials must be current with associated continuing education credits. Minimal (six months or less) experience in assignment of ICD-10-CM codes to medical diagnosis.
Proficient in use of coding encoder software, Electronic Medical Record software, Outlook, and Medical Necessity software as well as other computer software programs.
Ability to read and write small letters and numbers, and maintain orderly records anforms.
Successful completion of a ninety (90) day probationary period.
