General Description

SUNY Niagara has an amazing opportunity for a motivated and dynamic Registered Nurse interested in educating future nursing professionals who are enrolled in the College’s ( LPN ) Certificate and RN AAS programs. We are seeking a full-time 10-month, (tenure track) Nursing Assistant Professor to join our Nursing, Physical & Allied Health division. Our Nursing programs provide clinical experiences in hospitals, nursing homes, and community-based facilities. Our labs provide hands-on experience with the newest technology and medical equipment in the field. We also have a simulation lab that will emulate real-life scenarios in our nursing programs.

This position will be responsible for conducting classroom lectures to students in assigned content areas in classroom, clinical, and lab settings as needed. This position will also be responsible for student advisement, and participation in divisional and college activities. In addition, this position will also be responsible for operating the Simulation Lab which includes activities such as setting up computerized scenarios, providing technical support, maintaining simulation equipment and the coordination of learning experiences in the simulation labs with other Nursing faculty. These assignments are during the day, evening or weekend hours.

This position will be required to work for periods of time in the summer months (June, July and August as the LPN Coordinator). The base salary of $62,785 will increase with the additional responsibilities of the Coordinator with stipends in the summer. You can further increase your salary by doing special assignments etc. There is also a tenure track pathway for promotion to higher level salaries of Associate Professor and Professor.

Typical Work Activities

  • Teach and advise students in the Nursing program

    Essential Functions

Must be able to physically perform the duties of the position.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing and enrolled in a Master’s of Science in Nursing program

  • Proof that one has completed all requirements for a Master’s of Science with a major in Nursing within 18 months of starting the position

  • Current Registered Nurse license (RN);

  • Nursing clinical experience or teaching experience in nursing within the last 5 years.

    Desirable Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree or Doctorate in Nursing

  • Classroom, lab, or clinical teaching experience in a nursing program in a community college

  • Teaching or clinical experience in a technology-enhanced classroom

  • Experience using a course management system such as Brightspace

  • Experience working with simulation equipment and scenarios
