Eaton’s Corporate Sector division is currently seeking a Category Manager - Direct Material.
What you’ll do:
Our supply chain management team creates bottom-line impact by driving cost management and operational benefits. Within our supply chain, the Category Manager, Mechanical Assembly supports the development and deployment of the category strategy of mechanical assembly parts globally. In this role, you will drive towards optimal conditions (cost, commercial, quality, delivery, innovation, VAVE, proactive supplier risk management, supplier crisis management) for the Vehicle Group's Global Mechanical Assembly category by leveraging synergies across businesses and driving the “One Supply Chain” philosophy. Mechanical Assembly is a complex category with wide ranging products from simple assemblies like valves to complex black box products like Electromechanical Controller Units for Transmissions
Support development of and deploy strategic initiatives to facilitate cross-business synergies across a rationalized set of global and regional preferred supplier partners.
Manage a total spend of USD150M across 15-20 suppliers
Negotiate and manage key strategic supplier contracts and relationships.
Develop the commodity strategy, draft and negotiate Master Purcharsing Agreements and also evaluate the need for MPAs with key suppliers
Be closely involved in launching, managing and negotiating an RFQ for Eaton Cummins Joint Venture with a 5 year program value of $450-500M
Review, approve, monitor and report compliance to category agreements and strategies based upon Eaton SCM policies
Develop innovative business solutions, forecast commodity projections and provide mitigation actions as applicable to ensure key metrics for the procurement function (Cost Out, DPO, Diversity Spend, etc.) are achieved.
Present new planning tools, methods, technical analysis, standards and procurement opportunities with senior management that are aligned with SCM/Eaton strategic plans and cost reduction initiatives.
Benchmark procurement processes to develop and implement best practices throughout Eaton and Supply Chain Management.
Ensure compliance of suppliers with Eaton SCM Sustainability Programs, Go GREEN initiatives and SCM policies.
Plan, prepare, and execute annual profit planning for the owned spend, and support execution with the business cross functional teams.
Lead Supplier Business Reviews with strategic suppliers annually.
Identify potential financial / operational threats to the business and develop / deploy proactive supplier risk mitigation strategies to ensure supply continuity.

Qualifications:
Education level required:
Basic: Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Engineering or Business Administration from an accredited institution
Preferred: Professional Supply Chain related certification (e.g., CPM, CPIM) and MBA or master’s degree in Supply Chain from an accredited institution
Years and area of experience required:
- Minimum 5 years' professional experience in Category Management or Procurement or a minimum of 7 years' professional experience in Supply Chain or Operations
Preferred Qualifications
3 - 5 years’ professional negotiating experience in a global business environment
3 - 5 years’ professional experience with accountability across multiple manufacturing facilities
Technical Knowledge:
Knowledge of mechanical assemblies and ability to identify technology and economical trends within the category
Demonstrates knowledge and experience in successfully developing and deploying category strategies and driving cost-out.
Creative thinking skills to produce new approaches in category management and implement emerging tools
Skills:
Communication, customer service and interpersonal skills necessary to converse with senior management, suppliers, operations and SCM personnel
Ability to coordinate cross-functional / global teams
Ability to influence and drive effective organizational change across impacted regions/businesses
Ability to drive results via fact-based negotiations
Ability to manage cost-out projects against scope, schedule and budget
