Cisco Senior Director, Employee Communications in San Jose, California

Meet the Team

The Employee Communications team works across Cisco to inform, connect and inspire our employees around the world. We do this through content and message development, critical initiatives and campaigns, internal events and editorial channels, and cross-functional collaboration.

Your Impact

This role is responsible for leading the strategy and execution of employee and internal communications at Cisco. You will be leading the communication strategy for Cisco’s 85,000+ employees while working across multiple functions. The Senior Director will serve as strategic advisor to Executive Leadership on internal communications strategy and change management.

  • Lead and manage a team of communicators, providing guidance, setting objectives, mentoring, and fostering a collaborative and innovative environment.

  • Develop and implement comprehensive employee communications strategies aligned with company priorities.

  • Lead a virtual internal comms center of excellence to develop a clear and unified strategy with shared materials and simple messaging that focuses on Cisco’s core priorities and improves employee understanding of our company strategy.

  • Drive consistent messaging and alignment across internal communications channels including intranet, events, leadership forums, and all-employee communications.

  • Measure and analyze effectiveness of internal communications, using data and insights to refine strategies.

  • Effectively use AI to augment and assist in internal communications and productivity.

  • Ensure all communications are of the highest quality and aligned with industry standards while driving innovation through team enrichment and fostering excellence in corporate messaging.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 15 years of experience in leading employee communications.

  • 5 years of experience in managing large teams and complex, cross-functional projects.

  • 1 year of experience in leveraging digital tools and AI for communications.

  • Experience in influencing and working in a matrixed organization.

  • Strong strategic planning and decision-making skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to influence and collaborate with senior leadership.

  • Strong writing skills and message development.

  • Excellent communication and storytelling abilities.

  • Tech-savvy approach with experience in modern communication platforms.

  • Highly flexible and adaptive to needs of the business and executives.

  • Ability to navigate challenging situations as well as embrace change and ambiguity.
