Patent and Trademark Office Regional Outreach Officer in San Jose, California

Additionally, you will serve as Regional Outreach Officer and principal advisor for Outreach to the Regional Director, and will be responsible for formulating, implementing and executing the regional satellite office outreach plan consistent with the strategic goals of the USPTO!. Responsibilities The physical worksite for this position is located in San Jose, California. TELEWORK: This position is eligible for telework up to 3 days per week and reports to USPTO's Silicon Valley headquarters for the remaining 2 days in the week. The position is located in the Silicon Valley U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. As a Regional Outreach Officer, you will be at the exciting frontline supporting day-to-day communications and outreach efforts and challenge you to think creatively about long term marketing initiatives. You enjoy developing and maintaining professional contacts with internal and external agencies, including the private sector to best accomplish strategic goals of outreach. You're interested in directing the day-to-day operations of the public-facing outreach facilities and/or customer service centers at the satellite office. You're committed to preparing the Director of the satellite office, in advance of speaking engagements, for creating, coordinating and updating presentation materials and talking points. You desire to gain experience planning, directing, and assigning work to employees assigned to temporary detail projects. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications You must meet the United States Office of Personnel Management's (OPM) qualification requirements (including specialized experience and/or educational requirements) for the advertised position. Specialized Experience is experience that has equipped applicants with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the federal service. GS13: The next lower grade level is equivalent to the GS12. Specialized experience for this position includes: Experience developing education programs which are focused on intellectual property, particularly patents and trademarks and business development, including connecting individuals and businesses to government based resources. Experience developing implementing and documenting a strategic plan to engage in IP related discussions with the appropriate contact in appropriate organizations. Experience establishing, maintaining, enhancing and monitoring effective collaborative working relationships with local and regional businesses and institutions. GS14: The next lower grade level is equivalent to the GS13. Specialized experience for this position includes: Experience overseeing education programs which are focused on intellectual property, particularly patents and trademarks and business development, including connecting individuals and businesses to government based resources. Experience managing a strategic plan to engage in IP related discussions with the appropriate contact in appropriate organizations. Experience establishing, maintaining, enhancing and monitoring effective collaborative working relationships with local and regional businesses and institutions. Supervisory Probationary Period-If selected, you may be required to complete an initial one-year supervisory probationary period.
