UnitedHealth Group Network Development Manager -Northern California in San Jose, California

This role is critical in developing and executing on network expansion strategy and activities in the Northern California market. Foster and maintain relationship with new prospective physicians, understanding their needs and providing solutions. Develop solid, productive relationships with prospective physicians through direct and in-person, regular contact and communication. Conduct service presentations and proposals to prospective physicians and providers, and effectively conveying value propositions. As part of a cross-functional team, will own growing and maintaining a solid network of healthcare professionals ensuring the availability of high-quality healthcare services.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Developing and executing organic network growth and expansion strategy within the market

  • Developing a pipeline of clinicians and services that can be added within existing and new geographies within the region

  • Identify and monitor funnel of physician network business development opportunities

  • Responsible for identifying gaps within the network

  • Engage with current clinicians in the network to build loyalty and expand portfolio in the market

  • Collaborate with other shared services leaders to ensure an end-to-end white glove business development service for new clinicians

  • Ensures that for affiliated clinician network contracting efforts – including compensation, credentialing, and general network management are completed and meet the satisfaction of clinicians

  • Enhances the brand of Optum in the market by appropriately representing the organization in community and physician conversations

  • Works with growth, brand, and marketing teams to align expansion efforts

  • Actively engage in affiliated network expansion and retention efforts

  • In partnership with medical leadership, ensures that operating policies are optimized to meet patient needs while promoting the well-being of clinicians and staff

  • Reviews, analyzes, and monitors physician experience/satisfaction, growth, population health, and value-based measures

  • Engaging leaders for successful implementation of strategic plans for value, risk, affordability, growth, quality, and patient / teammate engagement initiatives as aligned with the quadruple aim and patient-centered clinical care

  • Developing and implementing effective strategies to integrate new practices

  • As part of a cross-functional team, will own growing and maintaining a solid network of healthcare professionals ensuring the availability of high-quality healthcare services

  • Physician and Provider Onboarding: Deliver full cycle relationship from initiation to onboarding of new providers including but not limited to executing agreements, credentialing, or others as applicable

  • Physician and Provider Engagement: Foster and maintain relationship with new prospective physicians, understanding their needs and providing solutions Develop solid, productive relationships with prospective physicians through direct and in-person, regular contact and communication

  • Presentations: Conduct service presentations and proposals to prospective physicians and providers, and effectively conveying value propositions

  • Market research: Remain current on network trends, competitor offerings, and industry developments to help inform pitch to prospective physicians or providers

  • Service knowledge: Maintain a deep understanding of our services and offerings; stay updated on any developments and be able to effectively communicate them

Required Qualifications:

  • Provider network contracting or provider relations experience

  • Experience in a network management-related role handling complex network providers with accountability for business results

  • Experience developing and presenting contextually rich and visually compelling presentations to clearly communicate complex concepts

  • Experience collaborating to successfully activate team members and senior leadership to support IPA participant operational execution

  • Knowledge of Medicare Resource Based Relative Value System (RBRVS), DRGs, Ambulatory Surgery Center Groupers, etc.

  • Understanding of healthcare value-based concepts, Medicare payment methodology, rates, and fee for service reimbursement methodologies across various specialties and facilities

  • Intermediate proficiency in MS Office applications

  • Based in one of the Santa Clara, Almeda or Contra Costa counties

  • Ability to travel to provider offices (expected travel requirement 25- 50% local travel)

  • Demonstrates attention to detail in communication, outreach and any informative materials presented to prospective physicians and providers
