San Jose, CA / Chromatography and Mass Spectrometry Division
What will you do?
Participate in all phases of the product development from product definition to final release
Lead and coordinate the efforts of a team of product evaluation test engineers and scientists
Work closely with global scrum teams (in Germany, India, Slovakia, US) to develop testing materials that ensure software products meet the specifications
Conduct testing of Enterprise software applications in Agile software development methodology
Build and follow Test Plans, and Test Cases, establish pass/fail test criteria, document issues, and perform final verification of defect resolutions.
Participate in the design, development, and implementation of new software products as well as the maintenance and improvement of existing software.
Communicate project status and issues to other functional teams, collaborators and management
Facilitate in the removal of roadblocks as they arise to ensure product evaluation team efficiency Responsible for testing software products and its documentation
Evaluation and Acceptance of Requirements as Complete
Author project documents and status reports
Participate in project planning and progress tracking
How will you get here?
Education
BS in Computer Science; MS in Chemistry/Bioinformatics; Ph.D. in Chemistry or related sciences is desired
Experience
5+ years of laboratory experience using Thermo or competitor software testing scientific software or experience with Liquid Chromatography/Mass Spectrometry applications
Hands on experience handling LC-MS and/or GC-MS
Technical\scientific knowledge in Life Sciences using Mass Spectrometry or similar analytical techniques
A detailed understanding of qualitative and quantitative analytical chemistry
Understanding and ability to apply statistical mathematics
Knowledge of Quantitation workflows
Familiarity with entire SDLC process, in particular in an Agile environment
Experience and knowledge of software test methodologies
Experience in Requirement Analysis, Test Design, Test Execution, and Defect Tracking
Experience using test management tools and defect tracking systems
Motivated, self driven, and autonomous work proficiency
Decision making for quality results
Provide technical direction and feedback
Ability to work in a team
Demonstrate Thermo Fisher Scientific values – Integrity, Intensity, Innovation and Involvement
Preferred:
- Familiarity with Quality System Regulation and FDA expectations for software and hardware validation
Desired:
Certifications in software testing, such as ISTQB (International Software Testing Qualifications Board)
Extensive experience with automation testing and tools
Ability to write automation scripts
Project Management experience

Compensation and Benefits
The salary range estimated for this position based in California is $90,900.00–$120,000.00.
This position may also be eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and/or individual performance results in accordance with company policy. We offer a comprehensive Total Rewards package that our U.S. colleagues and their families can count on, which includes:
