PAY RATE: $75,000-$85,000 EXEMPT

ABOUT THE ARC

The Salvation Army (TSA) Adult Rehabilitation Center (ARC) is a no-fee program to assist men & women in their journey to complete our rehabilitation program. POSITION OBJECTIVES:

Under the direction of the Administrator for Development the Director of Rehabilitation Services is responsible for managing the Program staff providing the counseling, care, education, and other resources that are provided to beneficiaries. As a program team member, promote a climate for effective performance and learning through his/her attitudes. Willingness to teach and learn and availability to beneficiaries and staff. Continue to seek experience and training to enhance an ability to work more effectively with those who seek Salvation Army services.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

A. PROGRAM

  1. Arrange Spiritual Counseling schedule.

  2. Make sure all programs and program resources and curriculum are filed so they may be used as a reference tool for the Adult Rehabilitation Center Staff.

  3. In consultation with the Administrator for Development plan holiday calendars and special events during the holiday season.

B. PERSONNEL AND STAFFING

  1. Manage program employees assigned to the DRS’s supervision including any disciplinary and performance improvement required.

  2. Coordinate with the program staff to ensure that policies and procedures are followed as it relates to all program components; beneficiary case recording; clothing inventory controls; screening candidates for the program and intake of beneficiaries, room inspections, drug testing, new admissions, discharges, etc.

  3. Assist Administrator for Development with regular weekly program meetings to ensure communication and team support.

  4. Recruit, train and utilize community volunteers appropriately and effectively.

  5. Oversee the Kitchen Supervisor ensuring adherence to health and safety standards, menu planning and food ordering/inventory.

C. STATISTICS

  1. Be responsible for compiling and recording monthly statistical data on the National Statistical Program on a timely basis – ensuring accuracy of same.

D. INTAKE OPERATIONS

  1. Ensure intake operations are developed and operated within ARC standards

  2. Ensure all paperwork is completed as directed by ARCC and conforms with local requirements.

E. RESIDENTIAL OPERATIONS

  1. Attending all staff and/or case conference meetings relating to the beneficiaries, ensuring that all paperwork relating to gratuities, etc., is completed properly.

  2. Be responsible for maintenance of the Gratuity Program and check for accuracy of same each week.

  3. Assist Administrator for Development with responsibilities for leisure-time activities. This will include, as a minimum, planning and conducting holiday parties/outings and monthly birthday parties.

F. CURRICULUM

  1. Ensure curriculum is in compliance with ARC standards.

  2. Ensure appropriate teaching objectives and outlines are utilized.

  3. Ensure appropriate teachers are recruited for all classes.

  4. Ensure one-on-one and group process counseling is done in compliance with ARC standards.

G. INTERN PROGRAM

  1. Supervise Lead Counselor to ensure appropriate supervision of interns.

H. OTHER DUTIES

  1. Coordinate with the Administrator for Development to develop a successful program.

  2. Assure program department is compliant with ARCC review requirements.

  3. Prepare necessary materials for the annual review by ARC Command as requested by the Administrator for Development.

  4. Other duties as assigned.

    EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE:

· Degree in social work, Counseling, Psychology, or equivalent degree preferred

· Minimum of five years supervising and alcohol rehabilitation program or social services unit preferred.

· Current certification as an Alcohol and/or Drug Counselor with recent experience in clinical practice desired. Certification must be by a state certifying body or through a recognized professional chemical dependency counselor's organization such as the California Association of Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselors (CAADAC)

· Minimum five years supervisory experience in a related field.

QUALIFICATIONS:

· Documentation and evidence of acquiring and utilizing current knowledge and experience in the profession with emphasis on alcoholism and other drug addictions.

· A minimum of 4 years of experience in the field of chemical dependency services with a sound knowledge of management, social services and 12-step AA/NA program.

· Ability to work effectively with others with demonstrated leadership qualities.

· Demonstrate ability to support and apply the philosophy and religious goals of The Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Center program.

· Shall be free of and have at least four years free of any chemical abuse or dependency.

· Willingness to comply with The Salvation Army’s Counselor Code of ethics evidenced by signed agreements.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

· Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or continuous basis.

· Ability to grasp, push, pull objects such as files, file cabinet drawers, and other office equipment.

· Ability to communicate clearly on the telephone.

· Ability to lift, up to 15 lbs.
