Aerotek Chemical Technician - SJ in San Jose, California

Hiring 3 Chemical Technicians in San Jose, paying up to $23/hr!

Job Description

This position requires a minimum height of 5 feet 6 inches to efficiently perform the job, as you will be reaching into tall tubs. The role also requires relocation to Fremont site in a few months.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect and package finished products according to quality specifications and correct procedures.

  • Work at the expected rate of speed as outlined by Supervisor after proper training.

  • Understand and use the Quality system, Work Instructions, and Check Sheets appropriately.

  • Inspect product to consistently meet Quality inspection criteria and communicate any issues to Extrusion Operator.

  • Perform scheduled quality checks and enter data into the QDS system as required.

  • Be accountable for line gauge, tape measure, and other equipment (gloss meter, color meter, etc).

  • Count products correctly and accurately for packaging.

  • Operate all inspection tools as required.

  • Assist with start-up and shutdown of the line as needed.

  • Operate grinder.

  • Assist with roll changes, die disassembly, cleaning, and assembly.

  • Maintain good housekeeping and safety practices.

  • Clean grinders as needed.

  • Operate RF handheld and labeling systems as required.

  • Keep scrap peeled, cut, and ground in a timely manner.

  • Maintain adequate packaging supplies at the end of the line.

  • Put away full skids in their appropriate place and understand the location transfer system.

  • Mark excess scrap on skids appropriately and clearly.

  • Isolate all non-conforming material by following the non-conforming procedure.

  • Communicate any continuous improvement opportunities to the supervisor.

  • Share appropriate and relevant information from the current shift to Operators/Inspector Packages on the next shift.

  • Assist other inspectors when appropriate.

  • Maintain proper care and storage of Quality Masters.

  • Complete all other projects and tasks assigned by the supervisor.

  • Experience in the manufacturing industry.

  • Chemical handling experience.

  • Packaging and assembly skills.

  • Production and inspection experience.

  • Quality control knowledge.

  • Ability to read blueprints.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Good communication skills.

  • Ability to operate a forklift.

  • Basic computer skills.

  • Ability to accurately read and record gauge measurements.

  • Legible handwriting.

Work Environment

You will work in a cleanroom environment and handle hazardous chemicals daily. The role requires standing for long periods and lifting up to 40 lbs consistently. The work environment includes wearing personal protective equipment where applicable and being subject to frequent interruptions. Noise levels may be moderate due to printers, faxes, and computers.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of San Jose, California.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $23.00/hr.
