Uber Tax Manager, US Federal Tax in San Francisco, California

About the Role

Uber is looking for a Federal Tax Manager to join our growing tax team! This role will support our US domestic tax reporting function. What You'll Do:

  • Perform US federal tax analysis to support the tax decision-making in response to business expansion, tax law updates, tax efficiency opportunities, and many more. Assist in tax forecasts with multiple scenario analysis to aid planning and decision making

  • Assist in the preparation of the Company's US (federal) quarterly and annual income tax provision calculations and related financial statement disclosures, including computation of book to tax differences, tracking of deferred taxes inventory, and supporting tasks related to ASC 740-10 (FIN48)

  • Manage timelines, deliverables, and communication with the Global Tax Accounting team

  • Liaise with and manage external advisors to ensure Uber receives the best tax advice possible in a timely matter

  • Collaborate with the US compliance team based in India by providing tax technical updates and reviewing certain workpapers, such as the Return to Provision calculation, federal quarterly income tax payment estimates, and elections and required return disclosure statements.

  • Prepare reconciliations and analyses for accounts as assigned

  • Contribute to process and technology improvements aimed at streamlining the provision calculations

  • Research tax issues, review legislative developments and evaluate the impact

  • Support in the management of tax audits

  • Assist in developing financial modeling in support of tax planning and initiatives evaluation

  • Build collaborative working relationships across the organization

Basic Qualifications:

  • 5+ years relevant tax and accounting experience for large, public, global corporation in either a public accounting or corporate environment

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or related field; MST/CPA preferred

  • Experience and proficiency preparing and reviewing tax workpapers

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong written and verbal communication and organizational skills

  • Excellent analytical skills to ensure results are accurate

  • The ability to communicate findings in a precise and simple manner

  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment with strong ownership of his/her/their function

  • Results driven with high level of initiative, teamwork, urgency, accountability and integrity

  • Proficient with Excel and other Microsoft Office applications

  • Experience using OneSource Income Tax, OneSource TaxProvision, and OneSource UTB Module

  • Experience with Alteryx, Tableau, Oracle, and HFM a plus

For San Francisco, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$145,000 per year - USD$161,000 per year. You will be eligible to participate in Uber's bonus program, and may be offered an equity award & other types of comp. You will also be eligible for various benefits.
