The External Communications team has a fantastic opportunity for a Sr. Executive Communications Advisor to join our team. In External Communications, we collaborate closely to share our public service story more cohesively and impactfully to the wider world, helping the SF Fed be a more open and community-engaged Bank. We are committed to telling our story to broader and more diverse audiences and positioning the Bank as a credible and trusted organization.

In this important role, the Sr. Executive Communications Advisor will work to, establish, strengthen, and own the SF Fed leadership team’s presence on external platforms to tell the story of the Bank’s work, engage with broader and more diverse groups around the country, and help unleash the power of the SF Fed brand. This includes coaching and supporting the SF Fed’s leadership team with communication strategies, compelling content, talking points, and toolkits that reinforce the Bank’s vision, strategic priorities, and key messaging.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Craft external communication strategies for the broad leadership team, including Executive Leadership Team members, Management Committee members, Regional Executives, and Directors to disseminate the Bank’s key messaging and strategic priorities to the world.

  • Work closely with Bank leaders to craft compelling and authentic bylined content, speeches, and social media posts that inspire and engage external audiences—meeting each target audience where they are.

  • Proactively identify venues, events, and platforms where Bank leaders can show up, tell our story, and create new points of engagement.

  • Create toolkits and talking points to ensure the Bank’s leaders can serve as our most powerful brand advocates.

  • Collaborate closely with colleagues across Communications + Experience to ensure executive communications are optimally aligned and leveraged (where appropriate) across external and internal channels.

  • Influence and coach Bank leaders on Bank wide messaging and help them develop their own individual tone and style.

  • Support President’s speech writer with “first drafts” of CEO communications, for example, talking points, Board Self-Assessments, and provide back-up coverage.

  • Establish and track measures that evaluate the effectiveness of external communications and channels.

  • Collaborate with key stakeholders across the Bank to design, implement, and measure external communication strategies and campaigns.

  • Research and apply industry best practices to keep content and strategies contemporary and in alignment with best-in-class experiences.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree preferred in communications, public relations, journalism, English, or related field. Advanced degree a plus.

  • 10+ years of related experience writing and editing executive-level communications in the public or private sectors.

  • Industry certifications in corporate communications, public relations, and marketing desirable

  • Expert writer and editor with knowledge of AP writing style

  • Knowledge of central banking, financial markets, and policy a plus.

Base Salary Range: Min: $134,600 - Mid: $174,800 - Max: $215,200 (Location: San Francisco)

Final salary and offer will be determined by the applicant’s background, experience, skills, internal equity, and alignment with geographic and other market data.
