Position Overview

At Autodesk, we as Enterprise Data Engineering team is important to driving business growth and improving operational efficiency through innovative data solutions and insights. We are looking for a Senior Principal Software Engineer with deep technical expertise and business domain knowledge in Go-To-Market (GTM) enterprise systems, sales, finance, and customer master data domains.

You will report to the Director of Data Engineering in our Enterprise Systems & Experience (ESE) IT organization. You'll lead the delivery of advanced GTM planning solutions and multiple data initiatives, working with a globally distributed, experienced team to transform Autodesk's business processes.

As we collaborate across departments, you'll partner closely with Product Managers in the Data Product & Insight domain to identify high impact use cases, design innovative data products, and deliver actionable insights. Your role will define and optimize Autodesk's approach for GTM planning, account hierarchy, and customer segmentation models.

Location: San Francisco, or remote in United States.

Responsibilities

  • Work with multiple scrum teams (each has 7-9 engineers)

  • Lead the way of collaboration with scrum teams in US, India, and Singapore where engineering teams are located

  • Lead the way of entire complex projects development cycle and accomplish the goals

  • Participate in product discovery along with Product Managers, Users and Architects

  • Lead in solution design, readout and oversee the delivery of the end-to-end solution implementation

  • Experience with sales planning, forecasting, and customer hierarchy, segmentation domains from Business processes, technical solutions, and data wise. Lead design and optimize from enterprise systems, data integrations and architecture perspectives for those domains

  • Identify opportunities for improving operational efficiency, increasing business revenue

  • Lead, develop, test, and release data science models to create insights from enterprise system data

  • Work closely with different partners: Business owners, users, product managers, program managers, architects, engineering managers & developers to translate needs and product requirements to well-documented engineering solutions

  • Constantly communicate updates to partners and other partners with stakeholders in different phases regarding requirements clarification, solution/planning review, status/progress sharing

  • As the lead developer, boldly lead to design, implement, test, and deliver any data engineering products/components/services in a strategic way. As go-to person for technical solutions across multiple teams and projects, helping to overcome challenges predict risks, and figure out mitigation plan. E.g., drive systematic solutions for both shorter and long term, built a roadmap for technical solutions, contributing to initiatives to improve data engineering practices, disciplines, and excellences

  • Discover, define, and guide implementation of long-term technical strategy for data engineering tools, practices, and processes that benefit the team's growth, as well as delivery of high-quality data products

  • Be a role model for mentoring & coaching other engineers, applying best practice into team/product and promote our best practice/achievement to external teams

Minimum Qualifications

  • BS or higher in computer science or related technical discipline

  • 10+ years of hands-on software and data engineering development experiences in enterprise applications and systems

  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills and make sound architectural decisions

  • Broader knowledge in software architecture concepts

  • Experience with data architecture and data platform designs

  • Deep knowledge and experience in data modeling, entity relationship and query analysis optimization

  • Deep expertise in Python, Snowflake, SQL and DBT.  Hands-on project experience with these skills

  • Expert in using AWS. Real hands-on project experience with these skills is a must

  • Experiences working or leading solution design for sale planning solution, account hierarchy solution and/or customer segmentation solution

  • Experiences designing and building data science and ML models for generating business insights from enterprise system data

  • Demonstration of strong and competence in driving broad consensus and alignment across teams and GEOs

  • Ability to design and implement complex enterprise system solutions independently, demonstrate ideas by POC rapidly

  • Excellent team player, experienced in work with different disciplines, domains problems and teams

  • Excellent interpersonal Experience communicating updates and resolutions to customers and other partners both verbally and written

  • Rich experience in mentoring and coaching other developers is a must

  • Deep knowledge and experience of working in Agile process is needed

  • Embrace changes and can work under pressure

  • Willing to take challenges and stretch comfortable zone with willingness to participate in professional development activities to stay current on industry knowledge

Preferred Qualifications

  • Rich hands-on and tech lead project experience in delivering GTM enterprise solutions for sales, finance and marketing organizations

  • Rich domains knowledge in GTM planning, customer segmentation

  • Rich domains knowledge on data architecture and data model

  • Experience building and delivering Gen AI capabilities or solution is a plus

  • Deep knowledge and experience in data science and machine learning

Salary transparency

Salary is one part of Autodesk’s competitive compensation package. For U.S.-based roles, we expect a starting base salary between $160,800 and $260,150. Offers are based on the candidate’s experience and geographic location, and may exceed this range. In addition to base salaries, we also have a significant emphasis on annual cash bonuses, commissions for sales roles, stock grants, and a comprehensive benefits package.
