Compass Family Services Organizational Training Manager in San Francisco, California

Organization: Compass Family Services is a 100+ year old nonprofit working on the front lines of San Francisco's homeless crisis. We provide families experiencing or at risk of homelessness with comprehensive support to address immediate needs and ensure long-term success.

Salary range: $85,000 - $98,000 annually

Schedule: Full time, Monday - Friday, primarily during standard business hours

Location: 37 Grove Street, San Francisco. Primarily in-person.

Responsibilities:

The Training Manager will ensure that all Compass employees receive the training they need to be successful in their roles and grow professionally. As a member of the People and Culture Team, the Training Manager will work closely with people managers and independent contributors throughout the organization to develop and oversee delivery of necessary training that support staff in their day to day roles and prepare them for future leadership roles within the organization. This is a brand new position, ideal for someone who is excited to take initiative on training curriculum design and processes to meet the needs of our growing staff of nearly 200 people.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Work with staff across the organization to identify shared training needs and interests.

  • Develop training curriculum for staff positions across the organization and ensure delivery of training courses to the organization.

  • Coordinate a regular schedule of workshops on topics relevant to direct service staff (e.g. case managers, crisis response counselors).

  • Establish a training program for managers, with a particular focus on ensuring that new managers have the skills needed to effectively lead their teams.

  • Ensure that every Compass staff member has an up-to-date training and development plan.

  • In partnership with managers, create and update an onboarding curriculum for each new hire.

  • Lead Compass' Training Committee and plan monthly organization-wide Training Days.

Required Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of relevant work experience as a Training Coordinator, Training Manager, Learning and Development Manager, or in a similar role.

  • Excellent public speaking and facilitation skills, with 3+ years of experience leading meetings and/or trainings both online and in person.

  • Experience developing training curriculums or plans.

  • Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to Compass' work with at-risk families.

  • Strong professional skills: organized, reliable, detail-oriented, team-oriented.

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently on a new project for which there isn't an established framework.

  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging work.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Salary: $43 - $50 hourly / $85K- $98K annually.

  • Paid time off: 4 weeks of vacation your first year, increasing to 5 in your second. Also paid holidays, sick time, family leave.

  • Insurance: health, dental and vision insurance are fully covered by Compass for employees and dependent children. We also provide long term disability and life insurance.

  • Retirement: after one year of work, Compass contributes an amount equal to 5% of your salary into a retirement account; this vests during years 2-5.

Location and Covid safety:

  • Office location: 37 Grove St., less than a block from Civic Center BART/MUNI station

  • This is primarily an on-site role, with the option to work remotely one day per week after the first three months

  • Covid vaccination required for all staff
