Description

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Medical Biller to join a nonprofit medical organization here in San Francisco. The successful candidate should have a strong background in medical billing, with a special focus on using the Epic healthcare software system.

Main Responsibilities:

• Process and submit accurate and timely medical claims to various insurance companies.

• Utilize the Epic healthcare software system for billing procedures, record-keeping, and managing patient accounts.

• Review patient bills for accuracy, including verification of proper coding and costing.

• Investigate rejected claim to see why denial was issued, correct any errors and resubmit claims.

• Arrange for payment plans and billing options for patients.

• Communicate with insurance companies regarding discrepancies in payments and denials.

• Maintain strict confidentiality of patient’s medical records.

• Collaborate with medical professionals to ensure accurate billings.

• Follow up on overdue accounts and determine appropriate collection actions.

• Maintain up-to-date knowledge on insurance regulations, medical coding, and billing practices.

  Requirements

• A minimum of an associate degree in medical billing, accounting, or a related field.

• A minimum of 2 years of experience in medical billing, preferably with the use of Epic software. Certification in medical billing will be an added advantage.

• Proficient in medical terminology, ICD-10, and CPT coding.

• Outstanding organizational skills, attention to detail.

• Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.

• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to handle patient inquiries.

• Basic knowledge of Excel and other office software.
