Description
Robert Half is hiring a Grants Accountant to manage post-award grants, including account setup, invoicing, and financial reporting. The role collaborates with finance and program staff, ensuring compliance with grant requirements. The position requires proof of COVID-19 vaccination and at least two onsite workdays per week under a hybrid policy. Key Responsibilities:
Grants Management & Compliance:
Monitor compliance with financial grant/contract requirements, including federal regulations (Uniform Administrative Requirements, Cost Principles, Audit Requirements).
Ensure compliance with travel policies and provide staff training.
Oversee sub-recipient monitoring and provide technical assistance as needed.
Set up new grants in systems (Financial Edge NXT, Concur, Questica).
Maintain SAM registration and complete grant closeouts.
Collaborate with program staff on federal grant-sponsored conference requests and general ledger reconciliation.
Train budget managers and grant-funded staff on regulations and compliance.
Reporting:
Meet internal and external reporting deadlines to maintain compliance.
Prepare and submit financial reports and invoices to funding agencies (federal, state, private).
Complete monthly billing/cash draw for awards and contracts.
Accounting & Budgeting:
Review monthly financial statements, GL details, and prepare journal entries for corrections.
Support Single Audit requests, monitoring visits, and provide reconciliations.
Participate in month-end close and cost allocations.
Assist in proposal budgets and the annual agency budget.
Administer budgeting tool (Questica) and assist in policy and procedure development.
Drive improvements in finance operations and contract/grants management.
Serve as backup for other finance staff when needed.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in accounting, finance, business, or related field
Minimum 5 years in general/fund accounting + 3 years in grants management, budgeting, and compliance (8 years total)
Nonprofit experience preferred
Strong financial management, analytical, and problem-solving skills
Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
Excellent communication and collaboration skills
Knowledge of Financial Edge NXT and grant-related regulation
