Nexstar Media Group Weekend Weather Anchor Reporter in San Diego, California
ROLE: FOX 5 San Diego/KUSI News duopoly is seeking a Weekday Reporter/Weekend Weather Anchor to support our top-rated newscasts committed to serving the San Diego community. Successful candidate excels in ad-libbing, storytelling on all platforms, connecting with viewers, can receive feedback and models professionalism on and off the air.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Accurate reporting of news stories
Attend editorial meetings and regularly pitch original story ideas
Develops community contacts and a network of news sources
Must be able to ad-lib live breaking news by telling a compelling story with a strong ability to interact with anchors in studio
Works with the photographer in the development of a story
Regularly updates newsroom on story elements and progress
Use social media to update news and weather stories to the public
Attend station partnerships in the community
Produce and anchor weather, traffic segments for weekend newscasts and fill-in during the week as needed
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Must have undergraduate degree or equivalent related experience
Prefer 3-5 years TV news reporting and weather anchor experience in a medium to large market
REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:
Must interact positively and productively with other employees and in the field
Strong on-air presentation – must be credible, personable and passionate
Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills
Strong attention to detail
Must be able to accept constructive direction and feedback
In line with reporting duties, individual must be flexible with schedule and be willing to work additional hours or days or different shifts as required by news content
Knowledge of WSI, Baron or similar weather forecasting system
Compensation - $31.25/hr – $33.654/hr commensurate with experience and skill level
