Robert Half (Technology Solutions) is searching for a Systems Administrator / Systems Engineer with a background in Windows Server Management, Hyper-Converged Infrastructure, VMware Virtualization, Backups, MFA, Cloud, and other hybrid infrastructure/operational support skills for a City organization in San Diego. If this sounds like your background, then this Systems Administrator / Systems Engineer role is for you. For this opportunity, you will work in the downtown San Diego, CA area.

Position: Systems Administrator / Systems Engineer

Onsite/Remote: Onsite on contract (hybrid remote once you start as FTE)

Hours: 40 hrs/wk; Flex Shifts; M-F or M-Th/F (9/80 or 4/10 – every other Friday off or can do every Friday off)

Duration: 5+ Month Contract-to-Hire (Have to go through City application process and apply on your own so not guaranteed)

Company: City Organization (Public Sector, Local Government, Municipality)

Requirements

Notes & Qualifications/Skills/Experience:

  • 4-6+ Years of Experience

  • Windows Server Management

  • Active Directory Management, Windows Sites/Services, Administer GPOs

  • VMware (90% VMware now but migrating to Nutanix HCI) | Nutanix Hyperconverged Infrastructure Environments preferred (Hyper-V or other would suffice)

  • Backups (Cohesity or Rubrik)

  • Okta MFA, M365 Cloud

  • Cloud Infrastructure (Azure) – use Azure Rubrik for offsite storage (moving data to ADP)

  • Day-to-day management of VMware virtual environment

  • Network Support (Fiber Optics, Lease Lines)

  • Mitel On-Prem VoIP System

  • System Health Monitoring, Server Room Monitoring

  • Support Building Security (Access Control)

  • Assist with Cyber Security tasks / duties as needed

  • Desktop Support (help out with tickets, printer support, PCs, O365, etc.)

  • Municipal / Public Sector Experience (preferred)

  • Incentives as an FTE: Start at 90-100k, can grow up to 120k as FTE - Receive an additional $2,100+/month (26k/year) for health care plans (elite government benefits package) - receive annual raises (5%)

  • Interview Questions: What makes you a good team player? Tell me about your experience with Windows Server, AD, VMware, HCI, Okta, M365, Cloud, Mitel, Enterprise Backups, Security, Networking, etc.
