Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Staff Systems Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. The individual will serve as a Deputy Field Response Engineering Lead and will be located in either Rancho Bernardo, CA or Palmdale CA.

Essential Functions:

• Developing and maintaining close working relationships and liaison with other organizations within the Northrop Grumman Corporation and the customer to develop and deliver comprehensive schedules and project plans/tasks.

• Managing and working with the customer and technical staff on milestones and assisting with schedule development, preparing correspondence and reports of a technical nature and other duties as required supporting a collaborative team process.

• Driving the adherence to the processes and procedures for all engineers supporting the contract.

• Ensuring major projects and program schedules and plans are integrated across functional groups including training, operations, material, and quality.

• Identifying, Communicating, and Coordinating Technical issues and driving technical issues to closure.

• Serving as a Signature authority for the Systems Engineering and Integration Technical Team on engineering releases at plant and for the field.

• Driving Root Cause Corrective Actions and coordinating the resulting solutions with engineering technical areas to ensure the proper engineering documentation is released and valid.

• Providing technical advice and guidance on installation, adaptation, configuration or enhancement of company technical products, programs, and systems.

• Managing engineering expertise for resolving technical problems, troubleshooting and modifying products in accordance with customer requirements.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics discipline from an accredited university with 14 years of experience in engineering; or a Master’s Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics discipline from an accredited university with 12 years of experience in engineering; OR a PhD in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics discipline from an accredited university with 9 years of experience in engineering.

  • An active in-scope DoD Top Secret clearance.

  • Must have ability to obtain and maintain Program Access (PAR) within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business needs.

  • High proficiency in technical problem solving, to include root cause analysis, solution development, implementation, and monitoring.

  • Proven demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

  • Ability to lead technical teams and brief top leadership and the customer.

  • Experience with the operation, integration, configuration, and maintenance of fielded systems.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated excellence in written and oral communication skills along with proven success working in an integrated product team environment.

  • Proven ability to brief technical presentations to stakeholders.

  • Active Special Program Access (PAR/SAP).

Salary Range: $165,000 - $247,600

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
