The Analytics team is responsible for the development of CoStar's customer-facing Real Estate Analytics and Residential products. We think big, creating innovative data-intensive applications that take the vast amount of data collected by our CoStar Research teams to create a fast, reliable and intuitive analytics platform for our customers. We are a collaborative group with a mix of big data, API/platform, Machine Learning, and front-end skills, and we are growing rapidly to help invent the future of both Commercial and Residential Real Estate.

We are searching for an exceptional Senior Software Engineer in Test, who can develop test automation solutions within our agile product teams. This role is critical to the quality and success of our product and includes the design, development, and execution of automated tests for products we’re developing, as well as continued improvement of our testing process and architecture.

This position is located in La Jolla, CA and offers a schedule of 3 days onsite, 2 days remote.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Design, implement, and maintain automated tests for data pipelines, including integration and end-to-end testing.

  • Ensure comprehensive test coverage of data flows and transformations.

  • Validate data quality and accuracy at various stages in the pipeline (raw, transformed, product tables)

  • Develop test strategies and plans for validating integrations between backend systems and the UI

  • Build test automation for CI/CD release process.

  • Work closely with stakeholders to understand requirements, ensuring that test plans align with business objectives and technical goals.

  • Create and maintain test documentation and reports to communicate the results and health of the data systems.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelors degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field

  • A track record of commitment to prior employers

  • 5+ years of experience in software development and/or test automation with a focus on testing complex data systems

  • Strong proficiency in backend programming languages like Python, C# or Java used for test automation.

  • Hands-on experience with test automation frameworks (e.g., Selenium, PyTest)

  • Solid understanding of API testing, including tools like Postman or REST Assured

  • Familiarity with SQL, ETL/ELT processes, data transformation, and pipeline architecture

  • Knowledge of data quality frameworks and validation techniques

  • Experience with testing in cloud environments.

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment.

  • Strong problem-solving and debugging skills.

  • Excellent communication skills to articulate technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders.

PREFERED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Strong proficiency in Python

This position offers a base salary range of $105,000 - $193,000 based on relevant skills and experience and includes a generous benefits plan.
