This exciting opportunity within the Therapeutics Discovery organization offers a unique opportunity to help build and lead our Nucleic Acid Technologies core. Within the In Silico Discovery organization of Therapeutics Discovery, you will work closely with a motivated team of dedicated scientists building, evaluating and developing novel wet-bench assays and computational approaches for molecular design and optimization, delivering differentiated molecules and accelerating the development of therapeutics across all modalities and indications.
Key Responsibilities:
Collaborate closely with an interdisciplinary team of wet and dry lab scientists passionate about designing, optimizing, validating, and performing novel molecular biology and next generation sequencing (NGS) based assays and related computational pipelines.
Support the lab operations of the NGS core including reagent inventory, sample management and preparation, sequencing, analysis & reporting of NGS data.
Work with colleagues across Therapeutics Discovery to enable novel target identification, biomarker discovery, drug substance and drug product characterization of gene therapy, protein and RNA based therapeutics to inform molecular design & optimization as well as to enable continuous process & platform improvements.
Provide leadership, mentorship and technical expertise to lab members and colleagues across Therapeutics Discovery, serving as a SME in NGS based assay development,
Qualifications
Education:
- PhD, in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Biomedical Engineering, Computational Biology, Computer Science, Genetics or other life sciences related field required
Required:
At least 3 years of hands on experience working in a Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) laboratory is required
Proven scientific expertise in the principles of molecular biology, biochemistry, NGS, including sample processing and storage, NGS assay design, development and validation and associated bioinformatics pipelines is required
Expertise in experimental design and ability to coordinate with colleagues to schedule, prioritize and effectively deliver on shared research and program goals is required
Preferred :
Hands on experience with hybrid capture, long read sequencing (PacBio and/or nanopore), RNA seq, single cell sequencing is highly preferred
Industry experience is highly preferred
Experience with gene therapy, gene editing, cell therapy, antibody design, protein design, neuroscience, or oncology is highly preferred
Experience with human and mammalian genomics is highly preferred
Hands-on experience of bioinformatic analysis and scientific computing in R, python and lower-level languages is highly preferred
Experience with automation and LIMS is preferred
Experience working within a CAP/CLIA and/or GxP environment is preferred
Demonstrated leadership in the area of NGS assay design and optimization in a pharmaceutical environment is preferred
The anticipated base pay range for this position is $102,000 - $163,300
The Company maintains highly competitive, performance-based compensation programs. Under current guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan. The annual performance bonus is a cash bonus intended to provide an incentive to achieve annual targeted results by rewarding for individual and the corporation’s performance over a calendar/performance year. Bonuses are awarded at the Company’s discretion on an individual basis.

Work, Personal and Family Time - up to 40 hours per calendar year
