Quality Assurance Coordinator

San Diego Youth Services seeks a Quality Assurance Coordinator in the Quality Management Department to be based at the Administration office.  This is a full-time & non-exempt position reporting to the Director of Quality Management. San Diego Youth Services:  Who we are San Diego Youth Services has helped improve the lives of more than 780,000 homeless, runaway and vulnerable youth since its beginning in 1970. We provide safe places to live and long-term solutions through shelter, foster homes, community centers and housing to more than 28,000 youth every year at 100+ community and school locations. Through prevention, early intervention and treatment, we also help youth before they need higher levels of care or become homeless.

  • Meet the basic needs of youth.  Hunger, poverty and youth homelessness are on the rise for many youth and their families today. We help meet these basic needs for youth. What could be more vital than food and shelter? We provide safe places to live and long-term solutions through shelter, foster homes, community centers and housing.

  • Create positive connection. We help youth focus on positive life changes and healthy relationships as part of providing needed resources and services. San Diego Youth Services has long provided foster homes and adoption support services for families considering adopting a youth in the foster care system.

  • Help youth develop life skills. In addition to a range of safe and stable housing options, we offer support to help youth develop the independent living skills necessary to become self-sufficient and keep off the streets.

  • Promote overall health and well-being. Early intervention and care for the whole child are critical. We provide a broad continuum of services to help youth overcome trauma and challenges that put them at risk, including case management, counseling, mental health treatment and educational support and resources.

    CONTEXT OF THE POSITION

    The Quality Management (QM) Coordinator is responsible for the development and maintenance of Quality Management processes and agency documentation, maintenance of Policies and Procedures, program audits, and compliance with QM contracted components. Maintains, provides training, and evaluates quality services that are in contract compliance with funding sources.

    Essential functions include:

  • The development, implementation, and evaluation of an integrated treatment approach for youth with co-occurring psychiatric and substance disorders and quality trauma informed youth programs that adhere to and uphold the rigorous standards of SDYS as mandated by its mission, purpose, guiding principles, and standards of quality.

  • Assist QM Team, Directors of Service and Program Managers with ensuring standards of quality to include service partner confidentiality, program philosophy, and SDYS guiding principles.

  • Develop, create and maintain agency policies, procedures and training for providing quality services to at-risk youth and families across all SDYS programs.

  • Collect and maintain timeliness and quality of program and department report submissions, ensuring that reports meet agency and contract requirements (i.e. Annual Outcomes Report, Monthly Program Numbers, Medication monitoring)

  • Assist QM Team, Directors of Service, and Program Managers with contract compliance and quality management of programs, including maintaining contract files to ensure progress and compliance.

  • Conduct program case file reviews based on internal and contract audit tools and provide written documentation of strengths and areas of improvement.

  • Recruit and coordinate clinical interns/trainees in accordance with agency personnel policies and procedures.

  • Participate and support QM team in revenue generation for QM Department, which includes participation in public funding, training, and grant proposal writing in assigned specialized areas in accordance with SDYS annual resource development plan.

  • Assist QM Director and ECMS Coordinator with Apricot use and audits.

  • Develop working knowledge of program use of Apricot to support functionality in conjunction with ECMS

  • Develop an understanding of Apricot reports and work with Apricot group and programs to problem solve data integrity.

  • Assist grant writer with proposal development and grant re-application when needed.

  • With assistance, monitor budget and comply with fiscal policies and procedures.

  • With assistance, monitor and update QM team allocations

  • Act as Task Supervisor to the Quality Management Intern.

  • Attend and participate in required meetings, workgroups, and trainings.

  • Assumes responsibility and oversight of select projects as assigned by the Chief Program officer and/or Division Directors.

  • Welcome and support volunteers in the organization and assist them in accomplishing their services whenever applicable.

  • Maintain confidentiality and privacy standards of service-partners health protected information, as well as other applicable information and material in accordance to agency and center policies, and applicable regulations and laws including HIPAA.

    Perform other related duties as assigned.

    PREFERRED PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in social work or related field required, and 1-3 years of experience in social work or equivalent preferred, including providing high quality services to at-risk youth and families.

  • Experience working with pregnant and parenting transition age youth (TAY) preferred. Applicants who are organized, flexible, and creative are encouraged to apply.

  • Must be willing to develop or possess working knowledge of trauma-informed care and dual diagnosis treatment; experience working in trauma-informed and dual diagnosis programs preferred.

  • Experience with supervision, training, and scheduling of staff preferred.

  • Applicant would benefit from being a team player who can problem solve independently as needed, and collaborate in a fast-pace, multi-disciplinary team environment.

  • Must be able to work with and represent a culturally and ethnically diverse community.

  • Must have reliable vehicle, relevant auto insurance, clean driving record, and be willing to drive vehicle for job-related tasks.

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish/or another threshold language) preferred. Employment offer will be subject to clearances, which may include fingerprinting, background checks, TB testing, and drug testing.

  • Proficiency in the application of Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, Power Point, and Outlook is preferred.

    Salary Range :  $26.92 – 28.85/hour
