Job Description

Huntington Ingalls Industries Mission Technologies division currently has an opportunity for a Data Products Technical Support Specialist. The candidate will startup, configure and monitor range applications for display, recording and reconstructing Live Virtual and Constructive (LVC) training events. Provide mission and mission replay support. Create mission replays and reconstruction of LVC training events. Provide O&M support for the Southern California Tactical Training Range ground truth data feed. Assist with setup and configuration of SIMDIS displays. Monitor network data resources to support LVC training mission. Assist watch team members, Range Training Officers (RTO), Operations personnel and support contractors as needed. Support includes but not limited to tactical displays, data validation, data integrity, diagnosing and repairing faults when applicable, troubleshooting and documenting network data or display issues. Additionally, position requires flexibility as duties and responsibilities may be adjusted to meet business, customer, and contractual requirements.

Essential Job Responsibilities

Huntington Ingalls Industries Mission Technologies division currently has an opportunity for a Data Products Technical Support Specialist to analyze and provide recommendations on issues dealing with disciplines such as military command control and communications, electronic warfare, weapon systems, contingency operations, Military Tactics Techniques and Procedures (MTTP), force planning, and training exercises. Coordinates with user community representatives throughout all phases of development concerning requirements definition, clarification, prioritization, and alternatives. Analyzes the conduct and results of operational user training, military maneuvers or simulated wartime operations undertaken to main the capabilities of a force. Compares, analyzes and evaluates the relative merits of program designs and alternatives. Applies emerging doctrine and tactics, whether detailed in formal doctrinal changes or emanating from Advanced Warfighting Experiments (AWEs), Advanced Technology Demonstrations (ATDs), or Force XXI activities, to system design and development. Assesses the impact of programmatic and technical options on stated user requirements and doctrine. Prepares reports and briefs summarizing support requirements, deficiencies, and investments for various programs and systems.

  • Operate and optimize computer based range applications. Provide live exercise support including but not limited to supporting exercise controllers with SIMDIS displays, setup, data feed, configuration, and legends management.

  • Integrate Live Virtual and Constructive (LVC) data sources in an optimized common operational picture (COP), assisting training team members with display or network issues

  • Monitor data integrity, interface with appropriate SOCAL TTR POC’s, diagnosing and repairing faults when applicable, resolving network data issues, submitting trouble calls and reports as needed

  • Develop Standard Operating Procedures, data products and recommendations for software /display configurations changes.

  • Additionally, position requires flexibility as duties and responsibilities may be adjusted to meet business, customer, and contractual requirements

Minimum Qualifications

  • Knowledge of Navy live training range M&O, ground truth data tracking systems, NCTE network and range display applications.

  • 2 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field and Navy experience OR

  • 0 years experience with Masters with Navy experience OR

  • High School Diploma or equivalent and 6 years Navy experience.

Preferred Requirements

  • Technically proficient with a keen eye for detail

  • Previous experience supporting military and VIP briefs, debriefs & presentations

  • Proficient with NRL SIMDIS range display application and mission replay

  • Skilled in SIMDIS mission data decimation and post event processing

  • Able to provide real-time support in a dynamic environment

  • Flexible and adaptable to varying work schedules

  • Committed to continuous improvement and learning

Physical Requirements

May require working in an office, industrial, shipboard, or laboratory environment. Capable of climbing ladders and tolerating confined spaces and extreme temperature variances.
