Job Description
- We are seeking a skilled Marine Electrician Lead to perform and lead a crew engaged in electrical work in the ship repair industry. You will be responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, improving, and building electrical components on ships, ensuring all work is performed to the highest safety and quality standards.
Responsibilities
Perform and lead a crew engaged in electrical work on ships.
Inspect, correct, repair, and overhaul electrical equipment on marine equipment.
Diagnose and troubleshoot malfunctioning electrical equipment and determine replacement needs or new materials required.
Develop logical approaches to correct problems and install updated equipment.
Figure layout, install, and repair wiring, electrical fixtures, apparatus, and control equipment such as switches, relays, and circuit breaker panels.
Receive and examine wiring diagrams, drawings, and instructions for emergency and scheduled repairs.
Calibrate, service, and replace electronic devices and systems.
Lay out, pull, lift, and install cables and conduit as needed.
Test electrical equipment and low and high-voltage circuit systems for safety, according to NAVSEA Standard Items.
Attend production, planning, and progress meetings as needed.
Ensure adherence to safety practices and procedures.
Provide employee on-the-job training and technical support.
Demonstrate the ability to appear for work on time, follow directions from a supervisor, and interact well with co-workers.
Comply with corporate policies, goals, and objectives.
Accept constructive feedback, establish goals and objectives, and exhibit initiative and commitment.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Essential Skills
Minimum of 8-10 years of marine electrician experience.
Ability to operate and maintain various hand and electrical tools.
Ability to meet due dates, deadlines, and time constraints.
Basic math and calculation skills.
Ability to read and comprehend work specifications, technical manuals, and standards.
Knowledge of electrical systems in ships.
DBIDS eligible.
Job Type & Location
- This is a Contract to Hire position based out of San Diego, California.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $36.00 - $54.00/hr.
