Catalent Pharma in San Diego, CA is hiring a Facilities Engineer. The Facilities Engineer is responsible for the coordination and execution of preventative and routine maintenance of facilities including manufacturing suites and lab space and some related equipment.

This is a full-time salaried position: Monday – Friday, 8am-5pm (on-site) although hours may vary with potential to work overtime, on-call, weekends, or periodic adjusted schedule.

The Role:

  • Maintain building and manufacturing suites to GMP compliance. Ensure the GMP and non GMP air handlers and exhaust fans are operational and perform maintenance. Maintain GMP Nitrogen/Argon gas system. Manage and maintain Deionized (DI), Milli-Q and ELGA water systems

  • Ensure facility fire suppression (water) system is with specification, and certification is current and maintain facility fire sprinkler system and fire extinguishers. Ensure all doors are functional. Maintain battery backup for alarm system and GMP suite door interlock system. Ensure proper temperature control is maintained

  • Coordinate or perform preventative maintenance for all refrigerators. Assist validation and/or calibration activities as necessary

  • Ensure hoods are functional and certified per the calibration/validation schedule. Ensure Powder and Sample Room pressure settings are maintained within specification

  • Perform or manage general facility maintenance, repair and painting. Manage and coordinate outside vendor contracts and property management company responsibilities including back-up generator and elevator

  • Maintain facility plumbing, lighting and electrical systems. Ensure maintenance plans for equipment are up to date and consistent with best current practice

  • Act as a member of the safety committee and maintains workplace engineering controls and safety equipment

  • Other duties as assigned

The Candidate:

  • Must have a valid driver’s license

  • High school diploma or GED is required. Certifications from a trade school or bachelor’s preferred

  • Must have at least eight years of experience in facilities with an expertise in HVAC systems, as well as general knowledge of plumbing, electrical, lighting systems and basic building trades/construction techniques, methods, and practices

  • Strong written and oral communication skills including the ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization and the ability to read, write, and comprehend routine reports and correspondence. Excellent accountability, high attention to detail, and strong organizational skills

  • Ability to apply scientific knowledge and understanding of the industry regulations to applicable internal issues

  • Physical requirements: Individual may be required stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 40 pounds; minimal travel on a rare basis; ability to communicate orally with customers, vendors, and co-workers. Regular use of telephone and email. Hearing, vision, and speaking within normal ranges is essential for normal conversations, to receive ordinary information and to prepare or inspect documents. Good manual dexterity for the use of common office equipment such as computer terminals, calculator, copiers, and fax machines. Good reasoning ability is important. Able to understand and utilize management reports, memos, and other documents to conduct business

Pay:

  • The anticipated salary range for this role in San Diego, CA is $80,000 - $85,000 annually. The final salary offered to a successful candidate may vary, and will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to: the type and length of experience within the job, type and length of experience within the industry, skillset, education, business needs, etc. Catalent is a multi-state employer, and this salary range may not reflect positions that work in other states.
