THOR Solutions, LLC Design Engineer II in San Diego, California

THOR Solutions is actively seeking a Design Engineer II to support the Naval Information Warfare Center Pacific (NIWC PAC) in San Diego, CA. The candidate will provide engineering support services for the Office of the Chief Engineer (CHENG), Code 50E in support of NIWC Pacific’s mission objectives.

Typical Responsibilities:

  • Working on preliminary designs and specifications.

  • Evaluating the numerous and frequent change in design and performance which affect the assigned equipment prior to and during production.

  • Reviewing new approaches to circuitry and power distribution.

  • Incorporation of automatic self-test methods in equipment design.

Location: Full time onsite at NIWC in San Diego, CA.

Salary: $109K - $134K/year

Typical Physical Activity: Desk/computer work in an office environment. May involve: repetitive motion.

Security Clearance Eligibility Required: This position requires a DoD Top Secret or Secret security clearance. A qualified candidate must either already possess an active or interim TS or Secret security clearance (preferred), or be eligible to obtain one as a precondition to hire.

Typical Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:  

  • Bachelor's level degree in an Engineering discipline or Industrial Design or equivalent field.

  • At least three (3) to five (5) years of relevant professional experience, preferably obtained in a US Navy/DoD environment. Overall experience should include:

  • Proficiency in engineering design principles, materials science, and manufacturing processes.

  • Strong knowledge of mechanical and/or electrical systems design and analysis.

  • Prototyping, testing, and validation of engineering designs.

  • Familiarity with project management tools and methodologies.

  • Proficiency with common productivity software such as Microsoft Office, Adobe Pro, MS Teams and SharePoint.

  • Excellent communication skills.
