Job Description
We are looking for a dedicated Cable Puller to support new ship construction work.
This role involves cable placement, pulling sheathed cables through ducts and stuffing tubes, and moving equipment and materials.
The position requires the ability to climb ladders, physically pull cables, and knowledge of proper installation methods.
You will work under direct supervision, following clear and detailed instructions, and will receive training on the principles of electricity, electronics, and shipboard installations.
Responsibilities
Install cables in shipboard cableways using approved methods.
Physically pull cables and climb ladders as needed.
Push long, flexible steel ribbons (fish tape) or rods through ducts and attach wire to pull through.
Secure and band cables once pulls are approved.
Monitor areas of concern and keep records of any suspicious or potentially hazardous conditions.
Activate appropriate alarms and promptly contact emergency response personnel as necessary.
Use phones and wireless communication devices to share concerns and information with associates and high-risk locations.
Essential Skills
Basic understanding of standard power tools.
Ability to read and follow simple instructions.
Excellent vision and attention to detail.
Previous cable pulling experience.
Experience working in a shipyard.
Job Type & Location
- This is a Contract to Hire position based out of San Diego, California.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $20.00
