Position Summary:

Eurofins Beacon Discovery provides integrated drug discovery support to both pharma and biotech partners. We contribute to all aspects of drug discovery programs for collaborators and clients focused mainly on, but not limited to, the GPCR family of receptors. The Beacon team has >20 years of drug discovery experience, moving targets all the way from initial concept to clinical candidate. Assay development, high throughput screening, medicinal and computational chemistry design, translational biology and pharmacology are all performed on-site. Beacon Discovery is searching for an Associate Scientist lead a small team in our receptor pharmacology department performing cell-based medium to high-throughput assays as part of our integrated drug discovery programs. Experience with GPCR assay platforms and using liquid handling/laboratory automation is preferred. Candidate should be highly detail oriented and able to handle multiple projects in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. This position offers opportunity for career growth.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Validate and optimize small scale assays to high-throughput screening (HTS) platform.

  • Maintain and develop SOPs for new assays.

  • Operate automated HTS robotic system, daily QC and troubleshoot technical issues.

  • Compound handling/processing and registration.

  • Culture mammalian cell lines using aseptic techniques and perform cell characterization using cell counting and flow cytometry.

  • Develop stable cell lines.

  • Develop, optimize, and perform cell-based, functional assays, using laboratory automation/robotics.

  • Oversee team of 2-3 junior level RAs

  • Input and maintain all experimental data using an online database and independently perform data QC and analysis.

  • Organize and present experimental data.

  • Read scientific literature and engage with project teams.

  • Highly motivated, punctual, works both independently and in a team.

  • Demonstrates ability to work in a fast-paced and growing team environment and to prioritize work from multiple projects.

  • Supervisory experience in a lab environment

  • Must be highly reliable and goal/deadline oriented.

  • Hands-on experience with automation and high-throughput screening platforms.

Basic Minimum Qualifications (BMQ):

  • Typically requires 7+ years of related biotech industry experience. Must have experience working hands-on with robotics or HTS.

Education/Experience (BMQ):

  • Bachelor’s degree with 7+ years life sciences or related discipline.

  • Master’s degree with 5+ years life sciences or related discipline.

Compensation:

  • $85,000-$120,000 annual
