U.S. Marine Corps ASSESSMENT SPECIALIST (MECHANICAL INSPECTOR) in San Diego, California

Responsibilities You will review, evaluate, and analyze Facility Condition Assessment (FCA)/Annual Inspection Summary (AIS) documents, engineering evaluations, and various report to identify and determine facility deficiencies. You will inspect facilities to verify/identify all maintenance repair deficiencies, life/safety code violations, American Disability Act (ADA) requirements, and electrical/mechanical/structural building code violations. You will utilize testing equipment and prepare narratives based upon the findings. You will analyze building history files and past deficiencies for identification of recurring maintenance problems to determine the cause of a given deficiency. You will conduct interviews with personnel, supervisors, etc. to gain insight into the facility’s condition prior to the physical inspection. You will prepare narratives on facility deficiencies found and determine the required repairs to correct the identified deficiencies. You will prepare detailed cost estimates and make recommendations on alteration and constructions projects that would enhance mission capabilities. You will prepare sketches and drawings from field measurements and notes to clearly identify locations and the scope of work to be performed. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Conducting surveys and inspections to identify facility maintenance deficiencies (i.e. life/safety code violations, American Disability Act (ADA) requirements, and electrical/mechanical/structural building code violations.); instructing/guiding others with inspections; evaluating the nature and cause of deficiencies; AND estimating the most cost-effective method of correction for the deficiencies.
