Pack and Prep Technician Assistant, Surgery and Neurosurgery

MissionVet is looking for a team player with excellent communication skills and a strong desire to provide the highest quality of care to our patients. The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of veterinary experience as they will be working closely with our Surgery and Neurology departments in a fast-paced environment.

 

Salary Offer: $14.50-$17.50/hr

Shift/Hours: 40

Schedule: Tuesday- Friday 8am-7pm

Direct Supervisor: Specialty Services Supervisor

    General Job description:

    Pack and Prep Technician Assistants are required to fully assist the practitioners and patient care personnel, to help improve the quality of care given to the patients of MissionVet Specialty & Emergency. They also aid the specialists in achieving greater efficiency by relieving them of technical work and administrative detail.

     

    Highlights of the position requirements are:

  • Employee focuses on the surgical area of the hospital (pack and prep, surgical suite, anesthesia induction).

  • Maintain operating room and scrub room as a clean, organized, and safe environment.

  • Decontamination and maintenance of surgical instruments and equipment.

  • Creation and sterilization of surgical packs. Re-sterilize expired equipment/instruments.

  • Surgical laundry.

  • Facilitate operating room turnover between surgical procedures.

  • Circulate OR during surgical procedures locate surgical instruments and equipment.

  • Complete end of day operating room check list (cleaning, turn off O2, Nitrogen, etc.)

  • Assists with weekly and quarterly inventory.

  • Downtime: 

  • Help maintain hospital as a clean, organized, and safe environment.

  • Assist veterinary technicians (restraint).

  • Assist with diagnostic imaging (radiographs, ultrasound). 

  • Assists other departments as directed by direct supervisor or shift lead.
