Tests and maintains substation apparatus, such as voltage regulators, regulator and LTC control panels, power circuit breakers, switches, fused disconnects, electrical bus, substation wiring and conduit, station service wiring and transformers, power transformers, fan controls and wiring, capacitor banks and controls.
Uses appropriate test methods to troubleshoot repairs such as oil dielectric analysis, time travel tests, insulation resistance, Power Factor tests, hi-pot tests, oil filtration tests, contact resistance, Megger, TTR , Multimeter tests, etc.
Performs or assists with analyzing data from electronic devices such as regulator panels and SCADA to determine proper operation of the equipment in service.
Performs Megger Testing of medium and high voltage equipment.
Installs electric wiring for new and replacement equipment and machinery.
Maintains, replaces, and repairs electrical wiring in the substation.
Interrogates data from electronic protective relays and evaluates data.
Aligns, adjust and maintains mechanical linkages.
Repairs and maintains pneumatic and hydraulic actuators.
Prepares and maintains necessary maintenance records and inspection reports.
Operates high voltage switches, breakers and disconnects manually, locally through coordination with System Operators using a SCADA system.
Installs and connects breakers, transformers and other substation equipment, and tests for correct operation.
