Actalent Quality Engineering Technician in San Antonio, Texas

Job Title: Dimensional Accuracy Technician (Quality Technician)Job Description

The Body Production Engineering Department is looking for a passionate and highly-motivated Dimensional Accuracy Technician. The primary responsibility of this role is to pro-actively support new model quality project activities at various locations in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico. This includes the preparation of daily plans, job tracking, fostering good communication, dimensional problem-solving, supporting team safety, and managing/reporting measurement equipment and data.

Responsibilities

  • Check and confirm body weld jigs, tools, pallets, parts, and assemblies to meet quality targets/KPIs for new model launch.

  • Prepare, troubleshoot, and confirm new tooling/equipment, parts, and sub-assemblies at various tool/equipment vendors.

  • Support weld and tool quality confirmation activities at NAMCs from installation through SOP.

  • Create detailed daily plans, Project Task Reports, and Problem Follow Sheets; track activity status; coordinate safety communications and support daily/weekly verbal and written communication with Project Leader and management.

  • Provide effective written and verbal communication with team members, management, and outside groups regarding dimensional information and issues requiring resolution.

  • Gather and manage part information from digital engineering systems and drawings. Analyze part/sub-assembly dimensional data and feedback to Project Leader and management.

  • Perform equipment/tool/part confirmation utilizing Portable CMM (Vectoron, FARO Arm, FARO Laser Tracker, etc.) as well as check fixture, weld tooling/equipment measurements, and part fitting activities.

  • Engage in up to 75% travel to U.S., Canada, and/or Mexico NAMCs and machine suppliers, as well as foreign travel including Japan, Canada, and Mexico.

  • Work up to 50% overtime, including weekends and holidays.

Essential Skills

  • High school diploma or higher college degree.

  • Minimum 1 year Automotive Body Dimensional Quality experience.

  • Intermediate experience with Microsoft products (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook).

  • Proficient with DE tools related to Body Welding, including 3D Magic, PolyWorks.

  • Strong ability to review and interpret part, machine/jig drawings, and 3D data.

  • Proficient with Body Quality measurement tools and techniques.

  • Passport required.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Associate’s Degree (or higher) in a Technical Field.

  • 3 years Automotive Body Quality experience.

  • Experience with mentoring and/or technical training.

  • Proficient with DE tools related to Body Weld metrology/dimensional measurement, including Catia, AutoCAD.

  • Skilled in gathering and analyzing all quality-related part/jig/CMM data.

  • Proficient with basic robot teaching.

Work Environment

The work environment is very methodical, requiring buy-in on projects before proceeding. Heavy workloads can be expected around the 4th of July and Christmas shutdowns. The position involves substantial travel, with up to 75% travel to locations in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico, and requires working up to 50% overtime, including weekends and holidays. The company offers 10 PTO days and 9 paid holidays per calendar year, and any hours worked over 40 are compensated at time and a half. Travel arrangements are managed for contractors.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $32.00
